Faith no more were very hit and miss live.
I had tickets to go and see them at Sheffield, but just got a 'bad feeling' and didn't bother.
Mates came back and said they'd been crap, blown off stage by the support 'L7'

I saw Faith No More at the NEC and apparently Mike Patten recognised me from an Iron Maiden warm up gig he'd been to when my pub band supported them in Milton Keynes so I got invited backstage. He's crazy, but actually quite quiet and shy when you talk to him. They were incredible that night.... again supported by L7

This is quickly becoming a compilation of the best songs of all time. Maybe WMB could release it as a charity album or DVD....

Got a 'strange' album
I was Christmas shopping, a couple of years ago. Wandering round the 'Gadget Shop' at Meadowhall. As usual theres the background music and I thought 'hmm Nirvana' as the opening bars to 'Smells like' started and then the lyrics came in by.Elvis??!!
Anyway had to ask what the CD was. It's a guy called 'The King'. The albums called 'Gravelands'. The guys a damn good Elvis impersonator and rather than doing a kitsch version of Elvis doing covers, you could actually imagine this is how the big guy would have done it.
The other twist is this is a guy doing an impression of a dead guy, covering other dead guys songs. Kurt Cobain, Lynyrd Shynyrd, Thin Lizzy, John Lennon, Joy Division, Janis Joplin etc
Its worth a listen.

I love the way that any threads relating to music always seem to turn into a sort of competition as to who's got the "coolest" or most "obscure" music taste [:D]

My music taste isn't obscure, just wide ranging. I don't know a fair few of the bands people have posted songs by, I just like lots of different styles, but as I never listen to the radio or watch and music channels I tend to not hear a lot of music that I may actually like

I didn't mean you in particular Guilli... I just meant people seem to want to mention "off the beaten track" bands all the time like it makes them sound cool, it makes me giggle [:)]

Not necessarily 'off the beaten track'
Bands such as L7 and when they toured with Faith No More.
Now lets think - I've been with 'our lass' 15 years now and that gig was about a year before I met her, if not a few more.
Just making me feel old, but not as old as if I didn't ride my bikes.

I saw Faith No More touring with L7 when I was 16, so yeah, that timimg would be about right as I'm 31 now. L7 were a good band live. Never liked them recorded though

I loved L7, and as for Faith No More... Well I always had a fancy for Mike Patton when I was younger *blush*
I was actually referring to some bands mentioned earlier in the thread, nevermind, I'll stop talking now [:P]

yeah but at 16 years, its before some of these guys were born....

Nah, I didn't recognise a lot of them either. Don't know if that means you're in "good company" or whether we're just past it

Gambette, I feel pretty old on here sometimes too. Just gotta think back to when I was a pup myself, when I had sponsorship from Raleigh to race their BMX's before some of the people on here were born to realise how old I am!

Lol, when I first got into music "properly" I thought I was the mutts nutts at school cos I liked Metallica and Pantera and for non-school-uniform day I wore cut off jeans, knee high Doc Martens and a Nine Inch Nails t-shirt.
I got beaten up at the school gates for being a weirdo. LMAO!! [:D]

This definately has the "cool" factor, simply cos they are sooooo old and still selling out stadiums worldwide....
