Always said I'd never, ever, ever, ever, ever buy a Spesh, common as muck, etc, etc, etc. Then I tested one towards the end of my search for a full susser and was sold.

Maybe I'm boring (pipe and slippers please) but I certainly don't worry about whether it's cool or not to own a Spesh or what it looks like as it's all about the ride.....isn't it?

Yes it is all about the ride, but I would also want a bike I can customise with different forks etc in the future (just my personal choice) and so wouldn't buy a spesh FS. I'd opt for the next best ride with a few tweaks instead

Manufacturer designs great bike. Prospective buyer thinks, "Wow, great bike. Wish I could afford it."

Manufacturer reduces price of bike whilst maintaining quality and reliability. Prospective buyer thinks, "Wow, great bike. Wow, I can afford it."

Manufacturer sells loads of said bike, due to price/performance being difficult to beat. Prospective buyer thinks, "Wow, great bike. Wow, I can afford it. Damn, they're everywhere."

Which bike manufacturer's name would you like to insert into this commercial success story? Plenty to choose from, Spesh included. You can please some of the people all the time, and you can please all the people some of the time.........

You should not like or dislike any kind of bike realy. I remember a few years ago on the Singletrack Forum there was few people that were violently opposed to Santa Cruz bikes. Ok so you not sounding jealous, but atleast it's a bike and it gets people out in the woods or on the road. I remember when I was a motorbiker and there was agro between the sports bike, the Mopeds/Mods and the Harleys. It's all silly realy. personal preference is what makes us different. There is a topic similar to this here about Pace forks, I had a pair for ages and loved em, but just recently I tried to get an RC405 out of them but they weren't willing to assist.

Biking is as much a thing of the heart as it is a thing of the head, and the heart isn't always rational. I hate Treks, and have absolutelly no reason to do so. But luckily this is a free country [;)]

I ride a heavily modified 04 stumpy fsr which is a cracking trail/XC machine, even with the pedal strikes from the notoriously low machine. I occasionally ride my modified 2001 rockhopper and I'm currently looking at a second hand enduro for going to the Alps next month.

God, I'm boring. I'm starting to fall alseep as I type this.

NOOOOO. Am so sick of hearing this......

I test rode allsorts before i decided on my enduro expert, and i got it because i prefered it to all of the others, and it was best suited for what I wanted. Personally i'm not sad enough to buy/not buy a bike because of what people think/say. If you like a bike and it suits your riding style get it. All i heard when i was going to get mine was oooh, fork clearance.. oooh new forks and suss,.......All of which was heresay. After 4 months the worst problem i have had is a puncture. There like mondeos and everyones got one, i haven't personally seen anyone else on one yet. Oh and i think it looks the dogs danglies [:D].
Spesh are a great company who make great bikes, as are many other brands. My advice is stop worrying what other people think, get out there, get what YOU want and whats best for YOU, then ENJOY!!!

Which model Enduro is that? I agree, it does look the dog's IMO. I would love to try one, but no LBS's have them, 'till Sept I've been told

The 6in travel sounds OTT though for trail, XC, although all the reviews say it's brill - how do you find it?

Its the sl expert. the 6 inch travel is fine as the spike valve seems to work well, and the forks drop to 110mm. As far as i am aware it was classed as all mountain, not trail/xc.
