It's all about context, yes. So how can a publicity seeking, shallow white girl, using it to address a publicity seeking, shallow black girl be anything other than clumsy, stupid and offensive? C4 had to take action (they were also no doubt delighted to do so as well) as they' couldn't be seen to condone it, especially given the context.

So should we let people stay on our TV, just because they're that stupid rather than nasty? Why?

Get rid of them quickly so they can disappear from the face of the planet ASAP instead of keeping them in the public eye. Just like that tw@t Ron Atkinson.

WTF is "reality TV"?

e.g. The Apprentice is an amusing competition in which members of the public try to get a job they shouldn't have, as well as free advertising for that fud "Sir Alan". If they were actually good enough to work for him he'd have headhunted and hired them in the first place.

Pop Idol/X Factor is a money making exercise for Cowell et al which has been thinly disguised as a talent contest where individuals are exploited for cash in exchange for a short lived musical career.

BB is a highly set-up show in which individuals are led through well choreographed, predictable scenarios as it's all based around pyschology experiments from the past. Hmmm... their food budget has been cut for the last week, they've not had much sleep and BB has just given them lots of cider... what's going to happen now?

Other "reality" shows like Dancing on Ice are just celebrity talent shows. I just don't get it.

Surely the "Reality TV" should be reserved for documentaries and nature shows and not for fame hungry wannabes?

House improvement/selling/location programmes
I guess a lot Documentaries are a reality programmes - Deadliest Catch and all those types of things on Sky.

I seem to remember a time when Production companies employed writers, actors, directors, in fact, a whole heap of people to make TV shows. I'm looking forward to reality films, oh, hang on, isn't Borat one of those already?

It's just that fact that you have talentless wannabes go in thinking that this is their way to fame and fortune, granted, the odd 1 may make a decent living, but for the most part they make a bit of dosh when they come out then dissapear off the face of the earth. I love the way that BB messes with them, and love the phsycology of it all.
There is always 1 or 2 in there that just crack me up, Leslie and Laura being the 2 this year.
I hate things like pop idol etc.
