Only a little bit done, I think on section 3 now, so another 10 like that for 16km will have me a happy bunny! Zaskars gonna love that, steep head angle for all those trees!

Wow, that looked fun! Not particuarly agressive/technical, but gotta love flowy singletrack!

So much better than the Marin (only XC Ive done).

Lol love all the other guys saying/shouting stuff, and the camera man just chuckling to himself [:)]

Another SingletrAction project, Dalby Forest has quite a lot of singletrack quite like the Wharncliffe vid, nice, fast & flowing singletrack.

Some of the Wharncliffe trail builders are going to use some of the style & features from Dalby @ Wharney!

Just the tip of the iceberg really. Add to that the green and black routes, 5 DH runs, north shore sections, jumps, drop offs and the rockgardens plus dozens of secreet trails and you could spend all year in there! Doesnt get any better.

'Tis a fun place to ride...

...unless you have to go S/S from the bottom of the DH runs to the top car park. which is what I had to do last time I was there, due to the rear wheel trying to eat the rear mech & breaking the hanger!

Its a bugger of a climb that. I totalled my wheels at the very bottom and had to carry mine back up the road next to the woods, all 800ft of climb in about a mile

Looks like you might need to organise a "day out" sometime soon SS. I'm only an hour from the big W - would be well tempted if that's a good sample of what's on offer. Last time I went - 3 years ago I think - trails were VERY limited - unless you liked thrashing it DH on a monster bike that is!

You just need to know where to look. This is a section of the new XC trail, built for intermediate riders but with chicken runs and optional harder sections. Don't think it has a rating as such. The black route is gnarly, and most people know Wharny as Peatys stomping ground and the DH runs. But further to the north there are loads of swooping unmarked trails and the crag top run, a very rocky hard XC route.

I think that's a problem with a lot of potentially good area's. If you KNOW them, then it's fine, but if you don't it's a bit of a lottery. You might "happen" across some good stuff, but unless trails are waymarked or you have a local guide it could turn into a bit of a waste of time and/or a big let down!

Ah! Thats one of those funny bikes that scare the sh, erm, poo out of you? Yeah, the trails flow nicely it seems, no too big rocks or drops on the XC route.

Where does the main tracks start as i'm only 40 minutes away and that looks douable for me. Done some climbing on the edge there is it anywhere near the edge, never seen bikers there when climbing. I'd be keen to meet up with anyone at Wharncliffe although have family so need to balance time but can do summer evenings

The main carpark is just off woodhead road through Grenoside. The trails are marked, but the XC trail isn't finished yet. Daxion (a member here) has a link on his sig to all you need to know and good maps.

Dalby is nearer @~100 miles from Newcastle, well worth a visit [:D]

Wharncliffe is just North of Sheffield, nearest place Google maps knows is <s>Sonictown</s> Chapeltown
