In that case mine was an old E reg Vauxhall Bellmont, only paid a one-er for it, never rolled it but spun out on roundabouts often enough!
I smashed it up after 6 days of owning it, oh boy some of the memories I've got from that car an places I/we went, had tonnes of fun in it!
I've always an still want an old escort, something like a mk1 or 2 mexico rs 1800, they fetch a fortune now!
I jus bought a 51 Mondeo Ghia X fully loaded, unfortunately it was broken into the other day, if I find out who did it, I'll KILL them!

One of my old mates bought a mk 1 escort and spent 3 years doing it up both externally and engine rebuild/tuning. It now goes like the old mk 1 rally car, maybe better. He spent œ800 on the car and it's insured for œ50,000 now!

I'd suggest getting 'Motoring News' and looking thro' the classifieds. Prob better off [with a rally car], if it has a copetition log book it will of been scrutineered at every event. Some very good cars available. I still hanker after the rear wheel drive Mk3 escorts (conversion) running cosworth engines. Small and fast! Saw it done to Fiestas as well. But as with all motorsport, getting very expensive. I remember talking to a guy who had a Quaiffe 8 speed gearbox in a Chevette. So he didn't have to keep messing round with diff ratios[:0] We went for a bit of fun, but once we started finishing higher up the order things start to change and some of the fun goes away.

I used to! The Chevette was a nightmare to work on, to many probs caused shoehorning the slant 4 in! I had to modify the sump, welded a tube thro' it so the clutch cable ran in a straight line. Inner wing had some, err panelbeating performed on it so there was a bit of clearance for the manifold. Snapped one of the engine mounts on the crossmember. Fortunately not beyond the capabilities of the welder at work! Ran Volvo 4 pot calipers with Belmont discs up front!
We bought it as a chassis and did the rest ourselves. The engine was a work of art IMO, dont like all this high stressed revvy nonsense!
