They wouldn't want to. They spend all their time on the PC on Stardoll, dressing up pictures of celebs in stylish outfits, and WISHING their mum was glamorous and not permanently covered in mud with oil behind her nails!

Yes. Whilst not non-existent, swearing is fairly rarely used and the discussions on here are, by general Internet standards, pretty non-inflammatory and constructive. There are certainly exceptions, but that's the same in all walks of life and it'd be unhealthy if I completely cocooned my kids.
That said, at 5 years and 7 months, I doubt my two'll be interested for some while yet. Nonetheless, at least for the older one, the above comments still hold true when he decides to read over my shoulder whilst it's me using the forum.

If you find the swearing on this site offensive then I would not let yuo kids to the park, or the cinema, or around the high street, or to school or to......

Agreed, Gungun. That said, (going off topic yet again) I must admit I do reckon the level of bad language used during local level amateur football matches somewhat depressing. I'm absolutely certain that the players don't, as a norm, swear as much during the rest of their lives, so why is it appropriate whilst on a recreation ground (often right next to a kiddies' play area)? It's precisely for that reason that I don't take my kids to the swings on a Saturday afternoon. Sad, really.

Kids are exposed to swearing and abusive behaviour in all walks of life. Not necessarily directed at them, but it is apparent. Whether it be on the playground, out playing, on TV, on the news or wherever it is an unavoidable fact of live in the modern day. I've sworn on here, be it in jest or more recently at Capt Jon when he has succeeded in provoking me so I am in no way perfect. But the advice, friendliness, intelligent discussion and cameraderie on here vastly outweighs the inevitable disagreement so why should I keep my (future possibly) children away from it?
Would the O.P. allow his children to use the forum?

I would let my kids use the forum but they're probably a bit young. Plus I left them in the house while I nipped out for a quick snack and bugger me if I can find them.
Oh well,I guess I'd better head off to see the pope and speak to the tabloids.

My son who is 9 comes onto this forum every now and again, dont have a problem with it as he just browses through the threads and looks for things that may interest him, he (so far) has not posted anything. He mainly goes to the beginners, general and workshop sections ... thats what he tells me anyway.
My daughter who is 8 (today) has absolutely no interest in the forum and tells me its boring when I am on it[:)]

I don't see why not, though my kids are too young at 6 to have any interest in it.
This forum is much better behaved than a lot of (most of / nearly all of?) the internet.

Well I live with two girls who do nothing but play on Stardoll and the Sims. I wish they wanted to spend their time reading about bikes!
I recently discovered to my suprise that Stardoll has a messeging facility and laods of kids were forwading chain mail and linking to cyber friends. I felt the need for a sudden 'dangers of the internet, dont give out personal details' etc chat.
Not sure if this was an over reaction or not [?]

<font size="1">To clip or not to clip, that is the question. Whether tis nobler in the mind of men to suffer the dings and contusions of unclipp'd riding, or to bind thy feet against a sea of gnarly singletrack and by these contraptions, ride o'er them with ease. To clip... to slip no more, and by clipping to end the buttache and the thousand natural shocks that ryders are heir to; tis a consummation devoutly to be honed.
