So where we going then? Pennines, Lakes, Scotland?

Dave, did you enjoy the Whickam Thorns ride? I found it to be pretty good fun, a bit harder than i expected considering it was put forward as a family ride. Did you beat the rain? We got soaked and caked in gloop.

The ride was great - a good mix of people/ages, although it is a bit embarrassing being overtaken by a 10 year old. It varied from wiry blokes on superlight full sussers to charvers on cheap bikes (who my mate christened as 'Chikers'). There were also loads of ambitious dads dragging there pi$$ed off sons around.

Some of the kids went the full 21 (?) miles - there was one girl in our informal pack who looked about 12 and even though she was knackered kept pressing on to the end. When you consider the smaller diameter of their wheels that's pretty impressive.

We did get caught in the rain at the end, but it came as a bit of a relief to cool us down. Also washed off some of the mud.

All in all it was a good, well organised ride
