It does have online play, but you have to download it seperately.. which is totally free, and you don't need the actual single player game to play it.

Yeah I do, its a good game.. but can get a bit annoying sometimes.
Keep an eye out for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.. being released sometime this year I think, its currently in beta at the moment.
and if you like WWII games and realistic games then look at Red Orchestra.. there aren't as many people that play it compared to CoD2, but its the most realistic game i've played. (its also online only)

I've not really played many games over the last few years, but now and then over the last few months I've been playing the following:
Half Life 2
Doom 3
GTA San Andreas
Max Payne 2
Doom 3 looks incredible with all the details turned up and surround sound working. You keep hearing things behind you and all over the place, it's incredibly immersing in that respect.

I'm really into COD2 online, I love it.
The BF series is also good, but you need mates to play with...
