So who are the better..

drivers, people who pass 1st time, or people who pass second? I always hear off people that they are a better driver because they passed second time. Personally i think its all bullshizzle.

First the worst
Second the best.
Jokes. The best drivers are the ones that have the most NCB [:D]

The ones who were insured on other cars whilst learning and so had much more driving experience when they passed their tests.
How many tries it takes you to pass is a bit of a lottery of how the inspector feels/what the other drivers around you do/how well you perform under pressure, it's not really something you can use to judge someones driving.0 -
I passed first time.
Only because I sucked off the examiner, though.

driving test is bollox anyway, It's not teaching you to drive a car on the road properly, it's teaching you too pass a test. Once you've passed and you've not got your L Plates on and you're in the car on your own its a whole other story.

I learnt to drive in Cyprus, passed my test 1st go. I couldn't drive.
So, courtesy of the RAF I was given various advanced driving courses.
I can drive now - but TBH, I don't like being behind the wheel. I much prefer handlebars.....
That said, 6 years NCB FTW! [:D]

I'd say all of my friends that past 2nd time are the more cautious drivers. I don't think you can really say who are the better drivers though, it depends on the individual.
Old people piss me off though. I work in a Garden centre, and I'm often stuck behind an OAP after work when I'm driving home. No joke, they do about 20-30 on a 60 limit road. It makes me furious. Seeing them braking all the way down the slightest of hills and even braking uphill. They really should be forced to retake there tests.

i agree though that there are plenty of people who have passed their test who cannot drive for shit. i got in a friends car and within 2 miles she had 2 near miss crashes no joke
and another time i was driving home at about 1am on the motorway and it was so foggy i couldnt see anything further than 200m away and there was still retards overtaking me at about 80mph

Not if you've got a good instructor. Mine said as the start, he's not just going to teach me how to pass the test, he's going to teach me how to be a confident and competent driver. And he has. I would feel comfortable driving on my own now. I failed first time, which was either last week or week before, can't remeber [:D]. My instructor was surprised and it was only because I did what ever other driver does, slightly cut the line in a roundabout which has stupid lanes anyway, and pulled away when there was a car coming in the other direction, who wasn't paying full attention and swerved, if he hadn't swerved I would have had 1 less majour fault.
I only got 4 driver faults.

Passed first time in august last year. I like to think of myself as an able driver, but I guess that's for my passengers to decide.
A friend of mine also passed first time. Managed to crash into the fence in the schoo's carpark and almost wrote off her car and three friends within about a month of driving. Her driving is still horrifying, insists on going 50 in 30 zones, tailgates, is impatient, speeds around multi-storey car parks, I could go on...

seems reasonable (tailgaiting aside, I hate tailgators (sp??) and try never to do it).
It's the crashing part she's getting wrong, not the speeding.

if i feel it's safe to do so. Same as I'll do 100 in 60's.
But I'll also do 20 in 30's if that what the road conditions deem necessary

your previous post implied to me anyway that you thought 50mph in 30 limits was fine full stop.
Personally I never chance it in a 30, too many speed traps and at least round here its pretty much never safe. But Im fine with nipping on when its safe to do so.
I think my driving winds alot of people, lost count of the times i've over taken some one at 100mph+ only to have them tailgate me through the next village after they catch up with me cause im doing 30mph and they're going through at 45mph
"I stepped on something soft and wobbly, struck a match and found it was a dead chinaman"

mmm, tehre is a 60 road coming into my village that drops to 40, then to 30. The amount of people that sit at 4o or so along the open road, then stay at the same speed through teh village past shops schools, houses etc is rediculous.
I appreciate that the road speed system is about the best way of doing it, I just feel courts need leniency (or stricted punishments) when the conditions arn't necessarily right for the set road speed.
I'd certainly say I drive faster than most motorists, but with certain moments of sillyness excluded, I'd say my driving record prove's im not reckless. (3 years of motoring, no crashes, 1 bumper scuff [damn carpark manouvers :-(] including in that a number of night rallies)
