Hi Alex,
How many more lifts are there than the ones detailed below? (info from http://www.lesgets.com)
The summer season opens on 9th June 2007 when the Chavannes Express chairlift will be open every day.
From 16th June the Mont Ch‚ry cable car will open, and from 23rd June, the Chavannes Express chairlift, la Grande Ourse chairlift, will be open every day until 9th September 2007 for mountain bikers.

It's the rest of the PDS region from memory.
I.e. Super Morzine side, everything in Les Linderetes, Les Crossets, Avoriaz, Vario bike park, Chatel (the town called Chatel, not the bike park), Morgins, Mossets, blah blah...
There are a lot more than just Les Gets - if you go all that way & just ride Les Gets/Morzine you are missing out on so many levels.

only cost œ209 each all in (flights, transfers, accomodation, food & bike hire) so i aint too fussed and am off to canada in august.
Good to know though....where do you get the lift info from for the super-morzine side?____________

On that map, you pretty much have them all for the Morzine/Les Gets area. However, if you go up the Super Morzine side, (page 2, black line at the bottom) and on from there into the subsequent valleys, it opens up with so many more tracks.
Your best bet is to make friends with someone in Bar Robinson & ask them to show you up that side of things in exchange for a few beers one day. Once you know how to get there, you can go back & explore at your own free will.
If its your first time, spend a day or two riding the tracks in Morzine/Les Gets to get your eye in, then start venturing further afield, you will have a lot more fun [:)]
Then you get to hit Super Morzine on the way back!

The bikefax guide for morzine it top banana. Doesn't include all the routes but if you're a France-newbie, it's essential.

Hi alex, I will be in morzine from the 30th, will be drinking beer outside a restaurant near the super morzine lift after 4pm most days.
look out for my versus.0 -
The Bikefax book is good but there are many more XC routes in there than I thought there would be! Still a must have though!
-C- and I have just over 3 weeks to go before our 2 week trip and we both can't wait!!!

the owner of the bike shop i work at and his brother is off to there next week, then off to do the megavalance.
Have a look for them, one of them is riding a reign with blue pro2 hubs, and totems. The other is riding a SX trail with white 66's, both have stickers for "thomas's cycle revolution" on their bike.

Stupid question but i'll ask it.
loads of people are saying put all you heavy kit in you hand luggage (like multi tool, cable lock (guide said to take one) and peddles etc) will these not get me seriously told off at checkin? when we go through the checks etc.. weapons that i could take the plane down with..?0 -
Then wave goodbye to your tool kit.
Check it, put shoes and hair straightners in your hand lugage.

"hair straightners" pahhhh
stupid flats weigh a load (v12's) and general bit's n bob's...0 -
Pay for excess if its that important.

i think i'll live without the hair straightners [:)]0

Anything thats heavy & doesn't look like an offensive weapon, hand luggage it is the rule (including helmets).
I don't know what bike your taking, but for some, a big heavy DH bike coupled with a check in attendant who needs to go on a customer services course can result in a heavy bill for 'excess luggage' charges.
Definately 110% take a lock though, the place is rife with thieving pikies. As a word of warning, be VERY carefull on the lifts too. It's not uncommon for your bike not to be there if it goes up before you, or dissapear when it's coming up behind!
If there is a group of you, let one go up first before all the bikes, then let all the bikes go & then the last person. Its a pain in the arse unfortunately, but its better than having your bike robbed...

have some 18 mile CB's but was worried about keeping the weight down.
My helmet (spesh deviant CF) won't fit in the hand luggage bag.... you recon i'd get it on as hand luggage?0 -
Take your lid on as additional hand luggage, in the same way as you can take a laptop on as hand luggage in addition to your normal hand luggage.
Don't even consider putting something that your life depends through the baggage handler's hands.

(even though i couldn't say it right)0 -
Myself and a mate are heading out there on Tuesday night, arriving in Morzine on Wednesday and it's also our first time. We've got 10 days so also get to do the PPdS over the middle weekend.
Some really useful info on here - cheers guys.
Fozzy, just clip your helmet to your hand luggage bag and all should be fine - works perfectly well when I've been skiing.

I think there could be a lot of time spent staring up at the alpine skies as I pick myself off the floor - again!
