At œ120, i doubt you'll get an 'upgrade'.
What bike is it?
What's the eye to eye length?
What's the stroke?
What sort? Coil? Air?
What's the current shock?

What's the reasoning behind that? Do you know it'll fit his bike? Is the Boss suitable for the riding he does? Do you actually have a clue what you're on about or did you just pick a name out of a hat?

It may well be a custom build, but what's the frame and what do you use the bike for?

its a diamondback s10 frame used for a very small amount of xc and freeride and a few jumps0

You want to spend œ120 on shock for the frame for a œ160 bike?

actually the only thing i havent upgraded on the bike IS the frame i can give you a full list of my current components if you want! but as i said i am on a budget,
but trust me the bike is worth far more than œ160 i can assure you.
(so the answer is yes)0 -
Tip for the wise, put your nice parts on a nice hardtail frame, of which there are many for your price range.
An expensive shock will end up being tied to the frame and not re-saleable when you come to upgrade the frame except with the frame. Shocks are worthless second-hand unless they're a commonly demanded size which that isn't.
You could pick up a very nice 2nd hand hardtail frame from a premium brand for œ120, or add three weeks of paper-round money to your œ120 and you're into new, proper race-ready frames from decent manufacturers.
Not meaning to be mean, but if you spend money on a shock for it, you'll be polishing a turd. You'll have nice bits and a shiny turd, but it'll still be a turd.

paper round money? i'll have you know that i manage one of the most influential restaurants in warwickshire visit www.bluebellhenley.co.uk
also the frame may not be of a certain standard to you but i love her and i'm on a budget due to the fact that uni is pritty expensive nowadays (if you can remeber that far back)
so reall what i'm trying to say is a very polite "up yours"0 -
œ80
œ90
œ100
pick of the bunch, œ90 Seller's a nice guy too.
Nice hardtails that'll do what you want, better than your current frame, for less than your budget.
By paper-round money, i mean œ20 a week. Eight pints. Four packets of fags.

Will fit(I think it's 190X50mm you need, is it?) and is cheap enough for you to play with. Check if the spring is okay, though.
WD-40? GT-85?? I'd rather use the old AK-47!0 -
Finally! someone helping! yeah its lovely thanks for your help all of you who actually helped!0

You're a freerider on a supermarket frame. You're looking for a rear suspension upgrade on the aforementioned supermarket frame with a budget of œ120.
Your best option is to upgrade to No suspension by replacing your frame with a premium brand frame such as that norco for example. This is an upgrade in every sense of the word and within your budget.

That shock comes without bushes (œ20) and without the correct spring (œ25-50)
You'll have to pay someone to fit the bushes. It'll cost between œ10 and œ20.

i dont mind about that because i can do that graduallyas funds increase its just all in one go that is a problem
andalso ive got a great bike fitter in stratford upon avon that is also ver cheap (for fitting parts)0 -
YEAH! i think i'm going to side with red lemon here its about style and performance so posing and showing off is a big part of it even though its not to everyones liking (alex at least)0

Some people, like me, like to get strange parts on their bikes just to see how it goes, even if it was less expensive to get a whole new bike. It's like playing with legos. I had great fun when I cuted and drilled a piece of rusty steel to make a disc mount adapter for my previous crappy frame. I bought a new frame a couple of months later cause the frame cracked on the headtube but the disc mount worked fine.
That's why he wants a new shock, because it's fun to see how it goes, not because it's the most logical thing to do[:p]
WD-40? GT-85?? I'd rather use the old AK-47!0 -
Thank you! a Man on my level! good to stick it to them!0
