Tips on getting a dog to go to bed?

Not with me mind, she's far too young for me.

She's a year old alsation and she's locked in our kitchen and she's whining like a bitch. Sounds like she's running riot too.

Should I have left the light on?

Definetly don't leave the light on as it makes them whine more. The only really effective way is just to ignore it for a night or two, then she should give up.

This may sound harsh but my parents have a dashhound (sausage dog) and we lock it in a cage when we go out and go to bed or else it pisses everywhere.
When we want it to go to its bed in the day we just shout at her with the phrase "Get to your bed!"[:D]
Only when she's naughty though.

I personally don't think the no attention thing works very well, our nextdorr neighbour has a dog and they must harldy ever take it out ot give it any attention as its nearly always barking, bloody annoying because you can't get to sleep. Stupid people should not be allowed a dog.

A puppy pen (cage) is actually a really good idea. We had one for our lab when we first got him and he settled really well in it. It also gives them a place that is just for them.
If she whimpers it's likely she's lonely, unfortunately going to her will make this worse, you kinda have to leave her to it [:(]
If she's going wild though it might be worth checking her incase she does need a pi<s></s>ss or something. At least if she's in a pen and she pis<s></s>ses, she doesn't ruin the carpet!
