iaint, i am getting the bike back together as much as poss because i get my forks back tomorrow and dont want to spend the entire night rebuilding it,, hence doing some of the work tonight so all i have to do tomorrow is fit the forks and brakes and i can then go out on it

this is the thing though i ant sure what the crack is with it, i know the original pin had a groove cut into it that the securing clip went over, but this has a little hole and a different sort of holding clip which is what is throwing me so much

The pin has to go right the way through so the hole is visible on the other side so you can insert the retaining clip. If the pin is all the way in and the hole is not visible it's the wrong pin for that caliper.

the one of the pin is quite blurred, but i think you can just about make out the shape of the retaining clip and the fact the pin has no groove in it, just take it as given that there is a hole in the pin where i assume the clip goes through though

might have to do that i think, i just can't understand why it wont fit. It wouldnt be so bad if i could find the old pins but my borother "tidied" the garage up the other day and now half of my stuff has gone awol, 2 of the bolts to put the disc rotor back on the front wheel have gone walkies too but of course he swears blind he didn't touch any of my stuff. I am not amused right now

Sounds to me like its the wrong part then.

This is a long shot, and I can not guarantee anything but how likely is it to work if you removed the O-ring? It might not be ideal but may get you on the trail. Like I say though, I have no idea if that may lead to your death so be careful like.

i cant actually get the first bit of metal into the hole before getting as far as the o ring mate, i think you are right in what you are saying but i think the pin is the wrong part tbh
