Anyone else sick of revision?
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">
Yes. Yes I am. I think it might actually be the death of me you know.....
I got through GCSEs blagging, AS's were blagged, A levels were a bit of a drop back down to Earth when I dropped a couple of grades from the previous year, blagged first semester uni exams, but it's slowly setting in that you can't go through you're whole life blagging [V]
IIRC, for GCSEs
French = 4
Physics = 2
Chemistry = 2
Biology = 2
Maths = 2
Electronics = 1
RE = 1
History = 2
IT = 1
English = 1
English Lit = 1
Music = 1
<b>Total = 22</b>
And that's possibly even having missed out a couple- music for example, I THINK had more than one. Same goes for English + English Lit
So it's not that tricky to have as many as 18, as other people have also mentioned above.0 -
Yeah, just had a look, I'm doing 24 in total...

Everyones saying they have like 15+ exams. I usually count an exam as a subject, not each part of the exam as a seperate. ie maths paper 1 and maths paper 2. That for me is one exam, not two, its just split up.
Anyway for a bit of motivation, you have to think why you are revising. Do you want good grades? if so, then why? What will happen if you don't do as well a you hope? Will you still have the opportunities you would have, had you studied? Are your parent wanting you to do well? Are they promising a present/reward for doing well?
Answer yourself questions like these and you realise ( for a short time - enough to study for a couple of hours a day ) that in the end, it will all be worth it. Ignore how much revision your friends are doing, blagging theve done no revision, or the opposite. YOUR sitting the exam for YOUR results. Knowing that your best mate has done twice as much revision as you aint gona get you a pass mark.
Wake up early - say 7 or 8 at the weekend, get up, do your usual thing, breakfast etc. Plan to go out after lunch riding or whatever, then set yourself a time period before you go out, and within that time period say your going to do 1 hour studying, or 2 or whatever. Something you know that you can achieve. Then when you go out you will feel relaxed, knowing that you did what you wanted to do. Do the same later on in the day, after dinner etc. If its for GCSE's ( comparable to scottish standard grades ) then I would reccomend perhaps 2-3 hours a day concentrating on maybe 2 or 3 subjects, for the lead up to your exams. Come results day you will get a big surprise.

Depends on how clever you are and how much you retain from lessons. I retained about 85% for gcse's 90%for AS 75% for A2 and now i remember about 65%, but that is because i am forever falling asleep in lectures.

Do as much as it takes to understand the material. Have a brief read through the notes and/or books you have, get hold of all the past papers you can and do them. Find out what you suck at, read the notes and books more carefully, and try again.
The approach comes in for criticism from people saying that if the past papers don't cover everything, then you might come up short in the exam. That's true, but papers tend to be pretty comprehensive and cover most of the material you need to know. If there are any bits in the book that weren't examined in the past, you'll soon identify them. There's no option but to just read for those bits.
Nothing in the world will enhance your understanding and ability better than actually applying things you're meant to be learning. You'll also learn how to answer the kind of question they ask, what topics are bound to come up and it's far more enjoyable.
My Chemistry and Physics grades went from middle C to high A between the first and second year of A levels. The difference? Past papers.0 -

Get some past papers, go through them. Make sure you can answer all the questions. In most subjects they don't vary much year on year.
I was surprised to find that my first year uni exams haven't changed significantly for the past 4 years, they just change some numbers and the ordering.

Yeh, i got told that. A lot of the questions are repeated in exam papers. So going through past papers is one of the best things to do.
Most of the exam boards let you download the past papers with answers in .pdf format.

I don't have any exams until mid June. Only Chemistry and Human Bio left now as I finished my Maths in January (B - oh yes!).
I started revising a couple months ago. Only an hour or so a day. Now I've cranked it up a gear and doing 3-4 hours. Past papers and textbooks are all I need. Its going to be tough though. I need As in all my exams in order to get into Lancaster Uni for medicine. If not, its off to Edinburgh to study a biochem related course.

I have 8 exams in total these two weeks that all count for 50% of my final mark. Then over the past year I've done another 24ish and some papers (including a giant one we didn't get marked for but needed to be good enough) that all together are 50% of my final mark as well. This last 50% with some subjects also included the final mark for last year I had. (but say I've gotten a 7,2 at the end of last year in History, that only counts for about 5% now)

Tell me about it, I swear I've slept through nearly half of some modules' lectures. We have ours in this huge flat classroom (lecturers can't see you easily) with comfy desk chair things. And it's really warm. How are you supposed to stay awake?
In my 9am ones it's usually head on the desk as soon as the lecturer starts talking, unless I've had coffee.

Its worrying sometimes, when you start revising and you feel as you are learning things for the first time!! (maybe the teachers were not that good??)[:(!][V]0
