Very wet, dark and windy here, just contemplating doing NYD parkrun. I must be mad. Given the weather i suspect a day of doing bugger all.

Happy new year to you all. Although, yesterday was Tuesday and today is Wednesday. That's about it really.
I've been attacked by Beans 3 times already. He's now hanging around the bird table. Not for birds but for the mice who come for the leftovers.

Started the year with a good lie in. Junior didn't reappear from her New Year party until quite late, so was needed. A bit windy and rainy start to the year, may have to defer washing the bikes (and using then). Cup of coffee then off to Tesco as we're starting to run short on a few things.

Dragged out for a walk before breakfast by Mrs W, very wet and muddy underfoot. Now trying to wake up with the help of a coffee or two.

Picked up an old Look KG286 in fair nick for peanuts, which coincidentally was probably the main diet of the former owner. Who has a low saddle height on a long TT frame with a 130mm stem and stupid big reach bars??
It also has 55/46 front rings.
Mixed day, some rain, some sun, some wind.
Made up a picture frame. Turbo ride. Etc.

Sunny and reasonably calm with the odd shower. Took the Porker a run on empty roads. Magic. Witnessed a fantastic rainbow on my short travel barely 600yds away from me. I was singing wot Judy Garland sang. How close can you get to a rainbow before you can no longer see it?

Bloody miserable out there today, very slow start was had after a bit of boozing last night. Bits of pottering done, stripped down the old roadie to give everything a good clean and service, headset isn't great but hoping new balls will be enough. Got an entry for the Eroica in Tuscany for this year so need to get it all sorted, or maybe buy something a little bigger.

Been feeling shite since Sunday. Totally knackered. Bed by 10.30 last night and mostly snoozing today. Anyway 2024 been and gone. Looking forward to a brighter shinier 2025 as long as it doesn't feature Jaguar cars!.

Currently a low grade Chesini with Nuovo Record bits on it. But frame is a bit small and not particularly nice, keeping an eye open for alternatives.

yes the expert looked nice, been replaced with a new one now, astra, the opéra de paris one is extreme bling
my old stuff was bulky and unsuited to the world of streaming, nas archive etc., now all is going away except for the record deck, plan is the cd mountain i'll get ripped lossless and keep it on the nas plus a few backups, then the disks/storage go away too, just keeping the vinyl :)
i got a parks waxwing for vinyl=>optical, it sounds way better than the mc stage in my old amp, and the 'magic' feature works really well for old vinyl that has scratches, all the gain/dsp settings are app controlled so it'll be hidden away once i sort all the cabling out
took about 30 minutes from unboxing the phantoms to ready to go, surprisingly slick, power and ethernet to both, plus optical to one, much thinner cables than the ones for the old speakers
just waiting for the stands to be delivered as they weren't in store, should be a couple of days, for now the phantoms are perched on top of the old speakers, bass goes remarkably low, c. 14hz, i noticed bits in old tracks that i'd not heard before
btw the little mania sounds remarkably good, quickly tried it with both wifi/roon/qobuz from mac/nas and bluetooth/mp3 from my phone, definitely worth a listen if you want something you can easily grab and move around to have music wherever you are/on trips etc.
