Tuesdays Turnips Terrifying Tussle With Tarragon and Thyme
Slept better. Only woke at 4am. Decided in my head it was the wrong Time Zone so managed to sort of sleep to 5.20. Improving.
Scans today. I wonder what they will tell?

Morning Photonic and any other daft sod up at this hour. WFW as usual, unfortunately it's going to be a long day will post pics later. Currently dark and dry out.

PS good luck with the scans Photonic.

[scans - fingers crossed]
Morning
Dark and slightly brr. More mild than brr brr.
Cream crackered and the day's just begun. Roofer turned up yesterday to start the utility room roof and discovered proper boarding. That meant stripping tiles off. laying new membrane and tiling - no stripping of old boards so it was done by 2pm.
Just a bit of pointing on the chimneys to do. Fitted loft ladders despite the instructions doing their best to prevent me. I dunno who designs these things. 2 missing holes in a section meant either sending it back or drilling them myself. The ladders and the release mechanism is great, it's the peripheries that are badly thought out.
More tidying I guess... Roofer is on his own as partner is off on another job so muggins is sh*t shoveler.
Coffee...

Still not light here, haven't decided on activities for the day as home alone. Currently being irritated by Zoe on Radio2, hasn't she gone yet??

WFH with lots of meetings as the pre-Christmas rush sets in to get work onto other peoples plates. That's why I'm not telling people that Thursday is my last day for 2 weeks, I love a surprise. Also trying to sort a ski trip next month, fingers crossed. Time for another coffee...

Scott Mills taking over the breakfast sesh I understand. He does seem to me to be less gabby, but who knows.
Today's exercise regime hit a new target or 2, walked all the way down the street to the main road and back, furthest since.... plus did walk back up The Slope driveway without the crutches assisting. Progess 👍

Thanks for the support guys. It really means a lot. Got both CT and MRI today, back to back. Hopefully. Just arrived. The walk here was tough today. Energy at a low especially as I had to have early lunch. Only 2.5 mins off usual half hourish. But still hard going. Might Uber back.
So these scans will determine if the chemo has worked and to what extent. They will waymark the path forward in the new year as to surgery options or more chemo. Kinda nervous. Like having a test you haven't and can't revise for. At least I get results 2nd Jan.

Afternoon
Got dragged out first thing to go Christmas shopping. Bought the grandson an inflatable punch bag for his martial arts, realised when putting the large box that it’s in, in the car there might be a problem getting it to his as we are going on the train. Might need Santa’s assistance. Getting too late to go for a ride when we got back, managed to motivate myself enough to do a session on the turbo.

You know that part of an MRI scan when you have been lying there for an interminably long time listening to the clicks, whirrs, bangs, clunks, rumbles and you think it's gonna be over fairly soon now as your bladder has just reminded you that you really should have had that last wee as you've been drinking water all afternoon in preparation for the CT scan you just had. So you lie there waiting and listening and hoping. Bladder getting more insistent. Noises stopped. Hopefully over. Then the guy chirps up over the headphones, "yeah, we are half way there now. Not much to go". Aaaarrrggg!!!
All went smoothly. It was minimal waiting as they needed the same canula for both but each was in a mobile unit round the back of the hossie. CT op made a hash of the canula and when I trapsed across the carpark I had blood running down my arm leaving a trail. Onlookers looked shocked. I didn't GAF.

I had the 40minute prostate MRI recently and once you are in you lose any concept of time...

Evening folks,
Another evening in Witney, or a village close by really. Walked to another pub to try their food as they didn't do food on a Monday. They were full, back to the pub I'm staying in to eat.
Hope the scans show the right kind of progress PN. I once fell asleep during a PET scan, fortunately I was strapped down, including my arms, so I didn't move around once akip.
Glad you're improving 'loon.
Weather is due to take a turn for the worse tonight, hopefully won't affect my drive back tomorrow.

Weather has been rough and wet all day but despite that, managed to clean up the loft and ended up using the leftover OSB board to do more boarding up there, Finished at 6.30. Whacked. How does one accumulate so much stuff?! Looking quite smart now what with the loft ladders for easy access and the boarding + tidy + get rid of junk.
Dinner is late late - Chicken risotto.
Alcofrol needed.

i had a scan a few years ago where the 'whatever kind of junior medical person' messed up the canula...
scanner lady said that i may feel a bit hot when the dye gets pumped in
it actually hurt rather a lot, but i didn't flinch
scanner lady burst through doors looking alarmed and asking if i was ok
i looked and noticed a comical bulge in my arm, like a golf ball, seems the needle was in flesh not vein, and the pump pumped all the dye in as hard as it could until my arm popped
scanner lady stuck the needle in the other arm herself, all went well
sent me home with a letter saying "oops" in medical terms in case there was a problem
that evening my whole arm inflated to about twice it's normal size, spent the night in a&e - setting off the alarm on the monitor as my heart rate was superbly low - while they took pictures for the plastic surgeon to decide if they needed to do something, fortunately it started deflating before it cut off the blood supply to my hand and i strolled out at dawn for a coffee

I was playing pool at the Hotel I played for with a canula in my arm waaay back. Some silly sod starting moving his 2 kids and shouting' keep back, he's got AIDS!'. The other pool team mates were just laughing at him knowing what what was going on with me. Didn't stop him disappearing. The hotelier was behind the bar with his jaw dropped. I was getting daily doses of Ganciclovir for treatment of CMV. I didn't have it but brother passed it on through the bone marrow transplant.

The 2 dedicated phlebotomists in DGRI (Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary) were so good at it. In Glasgow Royal, having IV steroids, I had 35 canulas in as many days. My fault really - post transplant I wanted rid of my Hickman line and it was a bit too premature.
