Apologies for the skimpiness of this starter post, but it's the day of the elite TTs and we didn't have a race thread yet. There are profiles and links to start lists in the PTP thread:

The race website is pretty good, with maps, profiles, preview vids etc

Tissot Timing is where the race data will be, the best place to get TT checkpoint times etc

https://www.tissottiming.com/2024/crdwch/schedule

For the TTs, Xavier Disley is the go to:

Very little wind today, so conditions good to go fast.

Some riders reconning the TT course have complained the descent is sketchy, maybe they wanted to give people a chance to beat Remco?

I’ve done a virtual ride of the TT and the descent did look sketchy. I was thinking I bet they’re glad to not be going in the opposite direction.

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Cheers @blazing_saddles, didn't want to assume you were going to do a thread, we shouldn't take your efforts for granted

Heading out to the finish line soon to catch the end of WTT and then the men. I’ve spent the last two days sick on the couch (including missing the opening cyclocross weekend) so I’ll see how long I can manage to stay out.

Great conditions for TTing here today: dry, sunny, 20°, no wind.

Many local KOMs fell yesterday during the official on-course training, including the 7.5km stretch along Greifensee (Remco @ 60+km/hr), and the climb up to Chrüzlen (Jan Christen @ 32+km/hr). How much faster can they go today?

That relative lack of ascent looks like (to me) it should be either Ganna or Tarling, although perhaps Ganna is not on top (Ganna) form.

P.S watching the BBC, as opposed to Discovery, not kirby, but don't like their other anchor, is it Mccrossan?

    Do like Hutchinson admittedly.

Anyone know who the female commentator is on the beeb, liking her delivery and knowledge, feel I recognise the voice but can't put a name to it - Triathlete maybe?

Got to think Grace Brown retiring with a world champs and olympic gold is just a season too early really

Meanwhile, Remco drops his chain before he even starts

  • For some reason Eurosport commentary is by Marty McDonald. Must be about 4th or 5th choice.

Ah that's who it is - confused him with mccrossan, but don't like either. Maybe other people were unavailable, poorly or on holiday.

Brotherton, Boardman and Simmonds are a good trio for me.

Remco looks to be in charge, but for an issue - unless Ganna obliterates the descent.

Made Tarling's cadence at 86, doesn't seem low to me.

Jay Vines bike handling let’s him down again. He looks pretty cut up and bruised.

I forgot it was on BBC2!

Well that was tighter than it looked like it would be.

Tarling sounds really down on himself, difficult to watch - hope he can pull himself out of that over the winter.

    Somewhat predictable... But fair result

Remcos power meter not working throughout the ride

Impressive to complete that for the win with no power numbers, guess he was going by the time gaps from the team car.

Wonder why it wasn't working, might need some new CR2032's 🤣

Primož getting passed on the finish line by Pippo! Must be well pissed off.

And what did happen to Jay Vine?

FYI I've been on catch up...

Nobody (as yet) knows what happened to Jay Vine. I’d guess he overcooked it on the descent but that’s a pure guess.

Ganna got a massive tow from Roglic's car and Roglic to make up 13 seconds in the last few km's. Had no bearing on the final result, but the car really needs to be pulled aside much earlier in such cases.

He's their 1st choice for female races where he does a really good job.

My guess is why get 2 different folk for what is essentially 1 gig. He also does CX and knows more about the men than the others know about the women.

Also Mccrossan's brother, hence the probable confusion by daniel b

    lol, seriously they are brothers?

That would explain the similar voices, wonder why they have different surnames, maybe one has taken his partners surname - thanks for the info :-)

Junior men's TT underway. The Belgian who went off first is currently more than a minute and a half faster than anyone else. Red hot favourite Withen Philipsen off in about 30 minutes. Josh's kid brother Finlay Tarling goes off last.

  • He usually does the woman’s races with Dani Rowe.

Strangely, it’s now Rob Hatch commentating on the junior TT.

I guess he, Kirby and Cox were otherwise engaged over the weekend.

Marty ought to be confined to cyclocross only, where he does a much better job than he does at road commentating.

Carl Emil Just Pedersen "the other Dane" into second place for now, nobody has got close to van Kerkhove yet.

Is Withen Philipsen riding? They seem to be totally ignoring him?

Seixas (Fra) fastest at finish now, he had a great ride despite having to take some evasive action to get round a rider he caught who swerved out into his path and to technically leave the course to overtake a car

Not sure Albert's on it today, only 4th at 2nd check by 18" with other riders to come, he'll have to have an enormous negative split to bring back much back

4th at finish so far, he'll be disappointed in that.
