Looks like they’ve ridden really sensibly, they minimised the time loss between 100 and 50km to go then appeared to ease off over the last couple of climbs once they knew they would be OK.

Today's stage would make a really good introduction episode - Bardet is a natural story to follow and you've got another star struggling at the other end of the race. It's pretty much the Tour in a bottle.

55 riders didn't lose a huge chunk of time. The rest did.
The "Lantern Rouge" of the team classification must be Groupama, with Romain Gregoire losing almost 20 minutes, but he was 10 minutes better off than David Gaudu and Lenny Martinez.
Marc Madiot obviously endeavoring to create a three speed peloton this year, although I am not sure there's a market for it.

Madiot did say that the GC would be over in 4 days: he's just expedited that for his own team.

I wouldn't have had bardet winning that stage. It's actually similar to previous stage coups he tries and hardly ever pulls off ...attacking out the GC group to bridge a strong break . He tries a lot . Most often after he has fallen out of GC .
