Thanks PN, I hadn't thought of sliding the new liner over the cable, that will definitely make it easier. The bike currently has the new cable going through the frame the wrong way as I had to pull it through using the old cable. Think I've got it sorted in my head now. Unfortunately my back had gone so I was limited in what I could do and was having to rely on others to do bits under my direction. Me trying to say pull that and do this wasn't working, so I wound up taking over and aggravating my back.

  • For bare cable running internally, I got a length of fine black (2 or 3? mm) tubing from the LBS , if you slide this up into the frame over the old cable, hold it in place , pull out old cable, then feed the new one through, then pull the tubing out, done!

Can't remember what the tubing was called though!

i just use standard ptfe tubing as liner (with nokon 'pearls' outer), it's low friction and durable

my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

Just use a bit of 4mm air pipe, ideal for running cables in.

Too many bikes according to Mrs O.
