That's the Flanders/Roubaix double with a combined 100km solo?

Nah, the French tend to wear an entire flag. Looks like the luxembourg one.

More to the point, so clean he doesn’t even look like he started.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
He is peerless, incredible bike handling, etc, the great one-dayer. But afterwards I felt I wasted an afternoon watching most of it.
Also, it's a pity his team-mates don't get the recognition they deserve for their contribution (at least not in the simple newspaper media).

His team rode an absolute blinder today. Faultless. Drilled on the front to let the pave open splits and then let the wind do its work. Hardly any fight for position by the Arenberg, and all their guys were still in it.

MvdP The Man is, in Vincent Vega stylee, pretty fucxing good.
Impressive to watch him do what he was expected to do, in style.

I mean. He also had no competition.
Not his fault but when Philipsen is 2nd the competition in PR was not that fierce.

I'd consider Pogacar a peer.

Especially when Gianni Vermeesh ( other spellings are available) is having an impact. He doesn’t usually feature in world tour races.

I did wonder when I saw him. Feels pedantic but he used it to attack.

Yup. But they're on different schedules (unfortunately)

Jesus that was a dull 50kms

I've just got a bee in my bonnet about people saying mvdp is the best one day race in the world. I reckon Pogacar can match him in everything but P-R.

Just caught up. Think that's the worst edition I can remember - right from the lack of real anticipation leading in to the anti climax of the finish and pretty much everything in between. Even the Arenberg was pretty dull. Women's race was ok though.

Heard zero chat about tyre pressure management this classics season. Have the manufacturers been sent homeward tae think again, or have there been some rule changes that I've missed?

This morning's thought - You reckon Tarling asked for a sticky bottle because he was having a horrible time pushing 62 teeth over the roughest road surface on the racing calendar?
"Lads, I've had a shocker here! Someone give me the sticky bottle and get me off this course."

No.

He was getting back after a mechanical wasn't he? Riders probably do it all the time but with the amount of cameras in the race (plus fan footage) you just can't get away with it when you're near the front. Would have been worse to get to the finish then get DQd though. He didn't look happy when he got the news.

You have to think his DS should take a lot of the blame for an excessive stick bidon.

It would be good for the DS to publicly take responsibility for this IMHO, take the burden off a young rider

There was some suggestion MDVP planned a bike change before the cobbles...don't know if that happened

It didn't.
Worth noting that's the second year running he hasn't had the slightest mechanical issue. Seem to remember that last year there was a suggestion that Va Aert's puncture was more likely because he was pushed to the limit (was some old Belgian pro, probably with a cobble or two at home)
