42 months to freedom, the way I see it… I am so done with work and UK life, I really need a change. Noryh of Spain is Atlantic, so of course it’s not the Med, but in return you get bearable summers, as well as mild winters. After 300 days per year of grey, going down to 150-200 is a big step in the right direction. Need to look at house prices, as I will be on a shoestring otherwise.

I've just turned 55 and that's a seriously great idea
It's just a hill. Get over it.0 -
I might get a bit of help from my employer… rumour is we will move to a spanky new multi science building, but there won’t be as much room, so they might be keen to let people go… 😎

Tangential but hopefully related and humorous story. I once worked somewhere that the owners sold off to retire and the new owners were merging and reducing their new acquisition so there was rumours they would be looking for voluntary redundancies. I was going on holiday so I told my boss to put me down as a volunteer if it came to pass. They asked for 6 out of 13 staff voluntary redundancies in our team. They got 12 and the 13th thought we were kidding. 🤣 I went back to freelancing week after returning from holiday and collecting my redundancy.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Unfortunately the incentive is never as good as in the private sector. They might offer 2 weeks per employment year, as opposed to the routine 1 week, but in the private sector you would get at least one month per year you have worked

Wow! Things have deteriorated quite substantially since the mid-90s. Fairly sure when I got 1 month per year that was the statutory minimum.

It wasn't.

Yeah it's a week per year even in a lot of private companies, and it's capped.

Okay.
Edit. 30 years is stretching my memory. It could have been 1 week per year but with 3 months notice pay in lieu. Definitely didn’t have to work the notice period.

Been a week per year since it was introduced as a legal requirement in the 60s, week and a half for years worked over age 40. Subject to a maximum weekly pay currently set at £643.
Anything more than that was discretionary.

I suppose the cap does apply to the Premier League too… 😂😂😂

I use a Wahoo Kickr Core, standard large front chain ring (not compact) and, I think, 12 tooth cassette ring. I wasn't sure if this was a problem setup so asked on the Trainer Road forum.
It's best to read the answer there rather than have me try to explain it:
