Tough ride yesterday

Howdy,

Yesterday's ride wasn't the longest by any stretch (80km), nor with the most climbing - but it was a very tough ride, I was hanging off the back of the group in the second half, and I am very much feeling the effects today.

Afterwards I found my seat post had slipped down about 3-4cm, which might be part of the reason. I also had a fever on Monday/Tuesday, it seems to be going around the schools, but I thought I was well over it. May be I am just getting old 😀.

Would the slipped seat post alone explain it?

Some rides knacker you out - I wouldn't over think it too much!

But yes, sort the seat post out asap.

There can be a load of factors that mean a ride can be far harder than you imagined. As per Rick's comment I wouldn't overthink it, the only time I would start to investigate was if every ride suddenly became far harder than normal over a long period of time.

I am sure you will be back to feeling normal in the next ride or two.

More likely to be the lurgy than the low saddle.

Hayfever season will be starting around now for tree pollen sufferers, but we reckon my better half brought home a fairly mild lurgy this past week, I've been feeling relatively good on the turbo recently but this last week it's been a struggle.

Same here, had some very mild stomach cramps last week and no other symptoms, went for a ride Thursday and could barely get up a hill. Slightly improved Saturday and then much better yesterday.
