I think those of us who get paid to do the things we want are the winners here 🙂

Only the very, very few want to do accountancy. 🤣
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

No contradiction at all. On the one hand you aregue for survival of the fittest, dog eat dog and all that Gordon Geko stuff, whilst also wanting to socially engineer things so younhave what you think you are due, based on some people two generations before you.
This is contradictory.
It is not contradictory to point out that it's tough shit.
Quid pro quo. Fuck me. You are paid about 6 times as much as a junior doctor your age, so you've already had it. It's payback time from now on.

Not really. I don't get the fixation on the boomers. If anything, they are the outliers. Also it misses that they had to grow up in post war or even wartime Britain, which wasn't a barrel of laughs.
Why not envy the Victorians instead. I mean fuck they ran most of the world, lucky bastards.

Who does that? 😉

I thought you did. Dare say it is management these days. No more appealing.

Think you've got completely the wrong end of the stick. It's nothing to do with envy. The demographic shifts since its inception mean that the state pension has now ballooned to ~40% of all state benefits, beggaring every other part of welfare system. Never mind us folk funding it, why should pensioners be exempt from the benefit cuts that all other recipients have had?

He's several years older than a junior doctor.

The accounting bods are in a different department - I dont even manage them 🙂 But you missed my point - I do the stuff I want to do and get paid. And like RJS, I get time between meetings etc to post on here.

Good for you. You are being coy about what you actually do but I can safely guess that I can't see the appeal.

He's never been coy (IIRC) - he's the head tax expert, saving them £millions.

Yup, that's it. Plus treasury and customs.

So, managing numbers as I guessed earlier. Somebody's gotta do it (and get well paid) but I don't understand the enjoyment factor. Just as well everyone is different.

Never was a techy - managing is more where it's at for me and it puts you in control which makes a lot of difference. It's nice to be paid for stuff you like doing though, and not many hobbies do that 🙂

Because there are a lot of them and they can be arsed to vote, therefore valuable. Daily Express has got their backs. 25 years should see the back of them and Gen X will replace them and oh happy we will be.

An ex-pupil, who liked playing with numbers, decided very early on that his dream job was to be an actuary.

I get paid for blowing raspberries, and teaching others to do so, though it's probably just as well that my lifestyle isn't (otherwise) glamorous, or doesn't involve loose cars and fast women.

Fine, but it's only a hobby if you'd happily do it for free.

That's not an option here. Never mind 😃

Sorry I should have said 3 times much as a registrar. That's such an important point.

What does he do now? Funeral director?

You aren't going to persuade me that RC hasn't got a chip on his shoulder about boomers.
In answer to your last question, because it still isn't very good.

Would you though? That is the question.

What were the odds of that, at such a young age?
