Changing cassette ratio

Hi everyone, I'm hoping you'll be able to help. I have a 3x9 Shimano 105 groupset with a rear cassette ratio of 13/25 (circa 2005, I think 5500.) I would really like to change my cassette ratio to possibly 11/30 or 11/32. But after some searching it looks like my rear derailleur will only allow 11/27? I can get a 11/28?

If I turn my limit screw fully in will that be enough for the 28 teeth? There was mention of a longer b-screw?

Thanks in advance.

You may be able to get the 11-28T to work by as you suggest screwing the B-tension screw in. If that does not give you enough clearance, you can try a longer B-tension screw, the O.E. one is M4 x 10mm the stroke adustment screws are M4 x 14.5mm.

Try your local engineering fasteners supplier, a M4 hex socket head will work it they don't stock Pozi head screws. I don't see a 9sp road 11-30T cassette in the Shimano spec. charts only 11-28T and 11-32T.

This thread discusses the principle of trying this with a 10sp 105 5701 SS RD

Or get a rear mech hanger extension - you can get them quite cheaply off Amazon

It's just a hill. Get over it.
