As a mother of twin boys, my wife observes that they are only ever racing each other.

Gonna be a Yates in yellow.
They aren't going to muck about.

Great result and Pog takes round 1 v Vingegaard.

Has there been a sibling 1-2 before? Can’t remember if the Schlecks did it.

    More selective than I’d expected.

The cross boys were a disappointing non event today.

UAE are going to have to do some extra leg work, but not for Pogacar.
Yates A gets to field the press pressure. He seems to have cracking form.
All in all, I think Pogacar, with a 4 second bonus, will be well pleased.

Disappointing the TV director didn't caption the time gap as 'Group Yates'

How did they get away? Had to go and pick my daughter up, paused the TV then when I pressed play it went to live with 5km to go. I guess that was one two man break where they weren’t going to mess around.

    Who's lost time?

The second tier GC riders lost 33" to A Yates and 21" to the big two.

It wasnt was it? It was after that? On the descent. Pogacar was first over the climb.

The TV coverage never actually picked it up

Was that one of the more sedate starts to the Tour in recent years? Seemed a load more chilled than previous editions.

No, but it was just a touch too hard for the big lads, so there was less pressure in the position fights

I see that 'Adam Yates was denied a stage win by the collapsing inflatable' has entered the compendium of untrue cycling 'facts'. He wasn't racing for the win. Steve Cummings had already won from the breakaway.

At least he had an excuse.
I wonder what Benoit Cosnefroy's was for losing almost as much on a course that would normally suit his skill set.
