"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm

Some days one picks a Gaviria, then other days one doesn't. Ho hum. Forza il Giro.

Safe to say that that was a tricky PTP race to negotiate - well done to those that managed to pick up some GC points, commiserations to the majority who didn't (mostly due to Simon Yates' abandon). Some of the protagonists in this race feel impossible to predict!

A further well done to those who actually remembered to make their PTP pick every day, not easy at a busy time of year and the race failing to make many headlines outside of its own bubble.

I've been very busy all week so wasn't able to do regular score updates. However. here is the final spreadsheet:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1t-MwbvjunS3f7fokYh9z0QXA9Ua7nonu7btI3PiEih0/edit?usp=sharing

Let me know if there is anything I've missed or messed up

Chapeau to Dorset_Boy who takes the PTP Tour de Romandie in comfortable fashion - the man to beat in the Giro?

dish_dash climbs onto the second step of the podium thanks to an inspired pick of Jorgensen for GC and a distant third place goes to Dialatron.

A week of reflection for the rest of us before the next leg of PTP 2023, and the first Grand Tour of the year. The Giro d'Italia begins with an ITT on Saturday (May 6th) and the PTP thread will be up in a few days - make sure you get your picks in.

Finally - there were a couple of GC picks made after the race started (I know it was only a prologue). I did try to keep picks open as long as I could given the late start but these fell beyond even that. Given the PTP rules clearly state "No GC selections will be accepted once a stage-race has begun" - I've not awarded any points for these picks. If you feel thats unfair, let me know and I'll discuss with the PTP Presidente for a final decision.
