Over for Evie, 48s back and dropping down the field.

Meanwhile, PFP has pulled (slightly) ahead of her breakaway partner with 1 to go

I nearly wrote that PFP was away and gone but Pieterse and Lecomte (and Evie a little) have closed in back up...

Pieterse attacks and gaps PFP a little. One gnarly climb and descent to go.

Gap grows, but PFP is the better descender

Pieterse wins her debut elite XCO. Hell of a last lap, played with PFP like a cat with a mouse

    PFP - 6
    Lecomte - 10
    Evie - 16

    (Evie would've won that...)

Made up for Puck winning her first XCO World Cup, but gutted for Evie; lost 50 secs, and only finished 16 seconds behind; she looks in great form. Sadly, yet another puncture this weekend for a Pirelli, whether in MTB, or WRC......

What a weekend. 3 hour training ride before stating in second to last place to win. Crash today, back for the win with a couple of tail whips thrown in. Love Pidcock 💕

A rather sweetly emotional Mona Mitterwallner pisses all over my claim that XCM winners never win XCO races anymore by taking the last world cup and her first...

A wonderfully French swear from PFP 😁 about the cold

Puck Pieterse suffers a rare miss "only" finishing in 8th but clings on to the overall

Evie 5th on the day, 8th overall

That win has been coming for a while; and she didn't lose too much ground at the start, which is usually her problem. Really pleased for her.
Yeah, PFP looked good early on, but she said she was so cold, which isn't a surprise - she carries far less weight when aiming for Worlds.....next week in Les Gets could be a race for her if it's decent weather.

Puck still has a decent lead (approx 260) , and usually scores well in Friday Short Tracks

Nino in the World Cup leaders jersey is a rare sight; so used to him in the rainbow jersey....

Yes; it was originally on this season's calendar, but was dropped due to issues. I don't know if it's ever held any decent level XC racing. And hasn't held any world level CX since the 2018 Worlds....
Shimano have a large centre nearby....

    No Uk round. Disappointing.

There have never been any rumours about hosting one; which probably made the Worlds in Glentress our one chance to see all the top XC racers on our islands. No legacy at all. Opportunity missed.

And having a World/Olympic champion, an U23 World champion, and a recent World champion and nothing to show for it. Just like in CX with recent success but no World Cup......

(the flipside of the is that the UK did rather well out of cycling this year, AND it's Olympic year so that is going to skew stuff a bit. Let's wait until 2025 before we talk about legacy)

I meant legacy for XC racing; there doesn't seem to be any. Dalby in 2010 was the last time we had a XC World Cup. The Glentress course was immediately returned to its previous state - the World champs course no longer exists.

Two epic races on the best, and toughest XC course out there - Mont Sainte-Anne....

Lecomte won despite a puncture, and a crash - but sending it on the descents, a nice 2nd for Jenny, and Puck who said she rode 'like an amateur' claimed 3rd.

A season ending win for Tom, in the rainbow bands - after Matthias got 2 punctures; another fabulous ride from Guerrini to claim 3rd.
Nino didn't have his best race a scraped home in 14th to claim his 9 Overall title.

    Overall winners:
    XCC - Puck Pieterse; Alpecin-Deceuninck;
    XCO - Puck Pieterse; Alpecin-Deceuninck

XCC - Luca Schwarzbauer - Canyon CCLTV
    XCO - N1no Schurter - Scott-Sram

DHI - Loic Bruni - Specialized Factory Racing
    DHI - Vali Holl - Rockshox-Trek
