High arches or normal?

Left looks high

Right normal to high?

Thoughts?

  • Would agree, left looks high, right looks borderline.

I have very higher arches in both feet.

Do you get issues? Fortunately never caused me any issues, once had a pair of custom inserts made for sone sidi's out of curiosity. Actually worse, seemed to create pressure under the arch and led to foot pain.

Can feel pressure under the balls of both after a few miles turning into a hot spots after 20 miles. Shoes fit nicely, plenty of adjustability, wear them loosely. No numbness but not comfortable. Was wondering if I should be wearing arch supporting insoles or something along those lines.

If you are getting hot spots, no harm in giving an insole a try and seeing if it works for you.

I have used the giro inserts in a couple of pairs of shoes and they were fine.

It was a full custom insert that gave me problems, it was moulded to the shape of my foot and took up all the volume in the shoe. I think this created pressure under the arch and led to issues.

    easy test...

bare footed, stand in front of mirror

    lift one foot off ground

slowly bend other knee to lower/raise yourself

watch to see if knee moves in a vertical plane straight up/down, i.e. without moving inwards as you bend it

    repeat on other leg

if knee(s) move inwards, it may be due to over pronation, which can lead to knee problems, additional arch support can help prevent this

arches aside, to prevent hot foot try insoles with a metatarsal bump/button

It’s there honest. Just doesn’t make contact with the floor.

Thanks chaps. Knees tracking ok. Expensive adjustable footbeds ordered. 👍
