Pidcock in 8th on GC now. Ineos have 3 in the top 8 but virtually no chance of improving on third realistically whilst also being too close to be allowed to get into another break. They also have no mountain domestiques, it's a bit of an odd one.

GT is only 4 seconds off Pogacar, and looking pretty good. It's entirely feasible he finds a way to nick those, especially if Pogacar wears himself into the ground attacking Vingegaard. He might even find a few seconds in the very flat TT, if he remembers to take off his gilet

Froome now has the outright lead in "most Tour mountain stage podium places in the 21st century" with 9. Ullrich, Nibali and Valverde have 8 each.

Only the third reigning CX World Champion to win a stage at the Tour (De Vlaeminck, Van der Poel) and first reigning Olympic MTB Champion.

    Descending wins races .

What a great stage win for Otley Tom

That descent off the Galibier was incredible

Pleased for Froome, I was never a huge fan but you have to give credit where its due

I'm pretty convinced Ineos are going for the Team competition so Sir Jim can have a nice shiny picture up at HQ

Froome still has an ugly style on the bike but no one on this forum would have got round that stage any quicker.

Well done Tom P. I was watching live @ 80-65km to go, had to go do other stuff, and just caught up. Another great stage. That descending by TP was something else. 106kph! And 👍 to Chris Froome.

To be fair to MF, he's hardly the only forum poster that has significantly underrated a rider currently doing pretty well at the Tour... A few recent opinions on Vingegaard have aged like milk

It's one thing to debate whether someone is better than Pog - it's another to say he should climb off after stage 8 as was a waste of space in the team line up.

Don't worry, I'm just stirring. Don't think I've seen MF since around stage 7 anyway, for some reason...

The best thing is MF claimed Tom P was boring. I’d like to watch MF try and sit on TP wheel going downhill and see how boring that is.

I haven't said anything bad about Vingegaard 🙂

Roglic interview yesterday was great, he seems like a nice chap too.

We should have an amnesty of Pog related overconfident posts...

I did mine yesterday. There are....one or two others eh?

Most of the peloton seem ok ...odd a55hat. Some racists . That lot can go do one.

but like 70 percent plus of people they are ok.

I can't remember who it was on commentary who was keen to point out that Ciccone is a bit of be11end (Blythe probably, maybe Kennaugh)

If you mean we didn't weep tears listening to the Danish national anthem while clutching a model of the little mermaid and wearing Sarah Lund jumper at the mere mention of him temporarily dropping Pogacar on Mont Ventoux, then guilty as charged
Now you really *are* starting to sound like MF 😅

McEwen said he was cycling's Kyrgios but Blythe may have started the conversation.

I did think that Geraint riding up to them after they were attacking had the feel of a parent telling two kids to stop fighting or there won't be ice cream.

Anyone know who was the fastest up the Alpe? I see on Strava that Bardet is the new KOM with a faster time than Pantani

Sepp Kuss is showing as fastest now, 39:21

Pog/Vinegar/Thomas were 3 seconds faster than Kuss at the line so 39:18 assuming they hit the bottom at the same time.

    Pantani was 36:50 in 1995
