    Tom in tears.

Bastille Day not bad for the Brits and decent day for Ineos.

Fair play to Froome for keeping third there, Pog gains nothing besides sore legs with a late sprint.

    Pidcock.... pure class and style
Froome.... I couldn't be more pleased today. Just willing him on.
Geraint.... he takes some shaking, riding a great race.

He was the strongest in that break in the first place. Helped get the gap back up after JV looked like they might close the break down and spent a third of the time on the front.

Pidcock must have a reasonable shot at a top 10 GC finish now.

Good day for the Brits. Turning into the British mountain at this rate.

Chapeau to Froome. 3rd on that stage. Stunning win for Pidcock. No breakway for him after this

Very good tactical ride too, planned to get in the break and knew it would be easier to get away on the descent.

Still not convinced by Pidcock. Should probably try his hand at mtb downhill 😉

Pidcock given the combativity award too, apparently. Feels a bit harsh on Froome, who took his opportunity to get on Pidcock's wheel on that first descent and surely had a few things on his mind when he did so.- Meintjes also great effort though.

So many nobbers on this climb

Its the Alpe. Victim of its own success. Remember the fiasco when Thomas won and Nibs was off to hospital

Wiggins seems to have well and truly buried the hatchet with Froome, he's like a fanboi these days.

Ha ha G reminding Pidcock that he's the second British winner on the Alpe. ;)

Yeah, his words about Froome today have been nice to see.

So Pidcock was 12 years old when Wiggins won the Tour.

    Damn I feel old.

Pidcock in 8th on GC now. Ineos have 3 in the top 8 but virtually no chance of improving on third realistically whilst also being too close to be allowed to get into another break. They also have no mountain domestiques, it's a bit of an odd one.

Plenty of potential to exploit scenarios where teams other than JV and UAE are not able to shut down breakaway attempts
