From the overhead it's confirmed: Sagan is still an accident (for somebody else) waiting to happen.

French loving that he took time out to make sure the rider was safe. Check your helmet guys you shouldn't have to rely on other riders to make sure it's fitting

The bridge promised so much yet delivered so little that you'd think it was one of Boris Joh

It was Kung, regardless of what ITV say

Eurosport have shown a better and slowed down version.
The reason for the confusion being that sunlight partially obscured the 4, making it look like 1.
But yeah, turns out it was Kung, although Dan Lloyd reckoned it had kicked off earlier.

...I'm still gobsmacked at the fact that Pogacar is eligible for the White Jersey.
Six TdFs is a reasonable objective. Seven possible. Eight?
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Unless they change the rules, he's eligible next year as well

    😱
Imaging competing and winning that with 3 Yellow Jerseys already on the wall. 🤣

Believe it or not, he's the 12th youngest rider in this edition.

Imagine winning the White but not the Yellow...

How bad is it that would be classed as a failure?

Could happen, and would be considered a failure of a Tour to Pogacar given his achievements. It is his past achievements that would make it a failure.

Ben O'connor has had an interesting couple of days

Lost a packet yesterday and was caught behind the crash today

Everyone given the same time, even Vermaeke and Turgis who caught up in the crashes before and on the bridge

I think (without emulating Bombscare Kirby), the ASO got away with one on how the finish played out.

They are but I never understand why.
It's not as if they are the first sprints of the season.

Which I'd argue is probably a reason not to have one 3k, after a 18k crosswind bridge, on a fairly narrow road.

I think the crash did them a favour

Stefan Kung slapped with a 500CH fine and docked 20UCI points for the helmet grab.

It was Proudhomme that put it there, next to a petrol station and a McDonalds. He wanted it as close to the bridge as possible to create drama if there were splits.

Prudhomme put the headwind there? I didn't realise he had quite that much power!

I can see that, I'd suggest the safety of the finish relied on there being splits.

As it turned out, a benign crash, inside the 3km zone split the field and the finale ran off safely.
