I've tried a few and my favorite is the muc-off. Lovely stuff

    What’s the smell? 👃👃
Hard to describe really. There's definitely a menthol scent, but no where near as strong as the assos stuff.
Assos has been fairly subtle on smell for a few years now since they changed from blue to white.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

    Ah ok that’s helpful.

There was a really nice scent from the rapha one
  • The Muc-Off stuff smells like subtle coconut sun cream in a very pleasant way. Like you Rick I've pretty much always used the Rapha stuff since it was released many moons ago, but through trial and error I've now settled on Athlete Performance as my go to ar$e butter.

FYI - the Rapha cream had a load of herbs and aromatics added to it, but the standout smells were deffo cedar, pine and lavender.

    Thanks
  • I’ve been riding long enough to know when and when I don’t need it.

I rode 20 years before realising I didn’t need it…I thought I did. Besides, you are very slim, so you should find a good saddle and pad fit… you don’t even ride that far, so most certainly you don’t need it… but, if you like it, then use it

    Athlete Performance is good stuff

What’s it like? Consistency and smell wise
It's more solid than creamy and smells like a non scented moisturiser

Veloskin. Why? They made the Rapha one. The scent/package was specific to Rapha and thats all. Oh, the Veloskin is cheaper. Can buy direct from Veloskin or on ebay https://veloskin.cc/products/chamois-cream

Finally got around to buying it.

    Excellent recommendation.

It’s basically the same stuff with a different scent. Even the pot it is in is really similar.
  • Veloskin chamois cream is great - I used to use Assos but thought I'd try Veloskin on the basis it was cheaper and is UK based and I've been really impressed. They state that they have a fully UK based supply chain as well.

Their other products are great too - soothing gel and post shave cream etc. They also do bundles and if you like it they offer a subscription purchase option that is cheaper.

    Well worth a try.

£14 for 150ml is bonkers. You can get 250ml of the Muc-Off one for the same price.

You can get even more Sudocrem for the same price.
Point is some creams are better than others.
