They're frkkin ace. I thought the Helly hanssn stuff was good but the Odlo feels nice against the skin and seems to breathe a bit better.masjer said:Odlo extra warm base-layers are just the ticket.
I'm also fed up of the dangly bits (no not those dangly bits that chaffe as you mentioned), the reflective stripes - on a base layer? The metal zip - it's cold. The huge internal labels that you play Russian roulette with when you cut them.
I left my Rough Radical roll neck base layer with the neck stretched over a child's hanger for 4 weeks because it was too tight.
It's still a bit tight.

Interest flag. My right leg has been problematic for a few months now, but seems ok on bike, plus I get these occasional searing cramps on the inner thigh muscle, think it's the adductor, usually while asleep in bed 😳. Knee and hip feel stiff, walking I'll be almost limping for 10 mins or so before it eases off.Stevo_666 said:Just back from my BUPA MOT and got a couple of points of attention. Any similarities? I have a repeat round of blood test check for whatever levels of whatever and then (virtual prob) confab with GP early January. He was at a bit of a loss last time to explain, so if it could be a tear on a tendon or the like, I could ask about that.

@Stevo_666 adductor longus tear is the reason I had to stop playing football. I still can't properly play because of it (13 years later), but everything else - running and cycling included - is absolutely fine.

Man is pre-occupied with getting rid of stuff/boxing stuff up.
Man does little cycling in the interim and gets out of shape.
Man decides that now he's moved, he feels the need to go pedal.
Man picks very hilly route and pulls something.
He should man up, head to the bar, drink Guinness, eat scratchings and grab a packet of Bensons.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Yo dudes, one more day of reading and attempting to write something that resembles a coherent piece. Got in early to go to the gym but it was closed. Opened at 12 so I went late afternoon which made a nice change.
Last time I saw someone buying a pack of Bensons they were £12 something for a 20 pack.

Only way I can survive 90 minutes of football these days, proper 45 minutes of stretching prior to the game.pinno said:

I bought a pair of Lusso winter gloves highly rated by some cycling web site and they're shyte.
I am going back to glove liner + glove.
In other news, Odlo men's active leg tights and Odlo base layer are utterly utterly lush. Probably as lush as the warm embrace of TDV round the back of Edwyn's.
They are good until you hit 8 deg c.
Today was waaay out of the Lusso comfort range at 4.5 deg c into an easterly.
Hiking in -10 windchill they struggle, even with liner gloves.0 -

Loon, there are a few similarities but overall it sounds like something different. This never bothers me when I'm not moving, and it's not a cramp type feeling - bit of a sharp pain which I originally thought might be a trapped nerve or something but doctor was pretty confident it was the tendon on the Adductor Longus. It may well be you have a problem in the same area/same muscle but likely a different type of problem.orraloon said:

Maybe try a physio consultation?
In the meantime, here's a pic which might give you a better idea of whether it is that muscle.

Thanks Ben, good to know. As long as I can cycle and run eventually that's OK. Also I was a to cycle after I had stopped running with a mystery thigh tightness in late summer. Which is kind of good as it tells me cycling puts less stress on that muscle.Ben6899 said:@Stevo_666 adductor longus tear is the reason I had to stop playing football. Injury was already there. Problem was I thought it had gone away after giving it a rest for a few days so went out on the bike and did more damage. I think.pinno said:

Thx for that. Sounds like it is something different. Cycling efforts have been fine. Think my adductors are weaker than should be: the gym leg stretch machine abductor / adductor, push legs apart / pull legs together one, has shown me weaker on the pull together which I think is the adductor one. Tripled the reps to work on it.Stevo_666 said:
