Is that like a clothes peg on the choke cable?
Or a pet brick on the accelerator

    Afternoon folks,
Traditional slow start was enjoyed and unexpected. Should have been on an airport run to get sister but she's had to delay for a week. Walked over to the old dear's and did a bit of pottering there. Now home and going to do some bike fettling, another bike being donated to the homeless charity. They help people get back into work so bikes are useful so they can get there more easily. This one's rather nice, a Marin hybrid with disc brakes, carbon forks and LX gearing. A mate paid £10 for it from the tip.

We've been making use of Freecycle to get rid of stuff that isn't suitable for Fleabay, charity shops or not worth the hassle of selling but too good for the tip. You don't get paid as the name suggests but they have to collect and everything I've put on there has gone like a shot.

Since when have you had time for walks with heavy loads between pedalling, basking, bubbly and Pineapple munching?

My old landie had a slide like contraption for use with a pto contraption.

Would the thing move if it was in gear with the PTO shaft rotating?!

Yes, a right result. I've just got to bleed the brakes now and it's good to go. He could probably sell it for a couple of hundred but he's had a few years use out of it and feels he should pass on the good fortune. Although as 'loon has discovered karma doesn't work.

Yep, basically it just saved pressing the accelerator and fixed the revs to whatever you wanted regardless of what you did with it. We are talking a 1960 something Landy so pretty basic. Wish I'd still got it tbh. Ex wife got in the way.

For years I had an ex-military Series 3 lwb LandRover, had been one of those radio wagons, soft top, 24v, heavy duty. Had that notched lever thing which set the revs.

It was a plaything which gradually deteriorated over the years until I quit corporate life, got shot of it and bought my L200.

Best memory is having my then 3yo daughter with me on a byways jaunt up, over and around the Ridgeway. Got very sketchy in places, loads of the bouncing and jarring, keep your fingers outside the steering rim - in a partic rough patch looked over to passenger side to see daughter had fallen asleep.... For her first 5 years we had mega issues getting her to go to bed.

Good plan. I say you don't get paid but I got shot of a load of car cleaning/car care stuff and the bloke who took it gave me a bottle of plonk as a thank you.

I can't comment. Dunno what sort of non-cycling effort that is. Although 5000+ feet is an indicator.

I sit here and look at Mt Wellington which is about 4500 feet to the pinnacle and would be about that distance from the city centre, and I am reasonably sure I don’t fancy a walk/run up it any time soon. 🤣

Know it well, used to stop in the bunkhouse / campsite across the road. That's not nice running ground, nice scrambling and brilliant in winter conditions.

You have nailed it, I’m putting pressure on myself to complete this race in a certain time and I need to get it in my head it’s not a running race

Grade Adjusted Pace, it looks at the elevation and adjusts your pace to take it into account. Works well on rolling hills but doesn’t work well in bolder fields
