Good spot. That's saved me GCN renewal until the spring.

Temperatures for the opening weekend forecast to go above 40C.
    Not good news.
Early better news involving flat stages 2 and 4. Both currently have fresh cross/tailwinds forecast. (SW 3-4, NE4)

So I did a quick copy and paste of the text into Google for a translation.

"So that you can get an idea of the hell we will have, maximums planned for Saturday, with air subsidence which means deactivating marinades, or explain the danger of fire that we will have, I hope we are lucky and people are aware of the situation"

Deactivate Marinades??! Anyone able to provide a more context based translation for those of us who still struggle with our native language, let along mangling someone elses.

EDIT: Or is it right and marinades need to be deactivated or really bad things will happen?

I think deactivate marinades is correct. In 40+C temperatures there's a huge fire risk, so bbq is definitely out, and any serious bbq aficionado would be activating the marinade about now.

  • I see that Caleb Ewan has disappeared from PCS's startlist.
With all these flat sprint stages, it's starting to look like a DQS and Fabio Jakobsen benefit race. Really poor turn out from the sprinters. Perhaps it's the lure of the ENECO Tour or whatever it's called these days.

Isn't Demare there? Two horse race maybe.

Boring answer - it’ll be that coloured fire retardant stuff they drop on forest fires.

Don't worry. I've picked Demare enough times in the past to know it is a one horse race. 😉
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

From multiple GT winner to rambler on a bike. Hell of a fall Chris.

Those temperatures are insane for racing in. I don’t envy them at all.

Was trying to find if the UCI had any set numbers (high or low) for the extreme weather protocol and failed. Is there any? Or do they just wait till the riders moan about it?

I can't see there being a problem with the short, evening ITT.
Sunday is the only really hot day, as there is a significant drop in temperatures next week.
(probably due to me going there)

TBH it was more a general query, knowing how badly I handle the heat and exercise was intrigued as to what the UCI consider too hot/cold. Enjoy the trip 👍

No, it's two horses. There's Philipsen too.

No ITV4 coverage this year, which is a shame. The 1hr evening show is ideal when you can't catch the afternoon GCN / Eurosport Coverage.

I'd rather ITV were showing this than the Dauphine earlier in the year, but guess 3 weeks is a big commitment in resources for relatively specialist viewing.

    That's sad

Sounds ideal to me - 40c is not nice even on holiday...

Weirdly they've given him a bronze bike.

Might not be the gold that you would expect but that is a damned fine looking bike.
As far as squiggly Pinarellos go.

He got bronze at the Tour and that's what Ineos care about.

Didn't Wilier do some bikes with that kind of finish?

    Apparently they did.
My favourite paint job at the moment is the Treks but they look horrible in still photos compared to on TV though. 🤔

Those red Mondeos with massive white logos?!

  • I watched about 2 minutes of the team presentation this evening. Must have cost them all of 10 quid for the stage area and paying the acts.

Hopefully I will have the first week's stages sorted, but after it's over to you all.
