Accredited mechanics courses

Can anyone recommend a mechanics course (Cytech or similar) around the Portsmouth area - ie 20 mins or so so cycle from Gosport.

nope - i 've been looking after the mtbs at work because they know my spannering history (not to be confused with me being a spanner) but someone rumbled the fact i'm time served not certificated so they have told me to do a certificated course, which is fair enough. paid for by work through our annual learning credits as well, so not a biggie tbh.

Ja, ich habe gesehen, dass Sie auf Deutsch schreiben, da ich für ein deutsches Unternehmen arbeite.
Ich habe mich nur gewundert, da einige der Übersetzungstools mittlerweile sehr gut sind.

It's not my first language (I know, you're shocked!) and when I'm having a mental block, Google Translate is genuinely reliable although it sometimes uses the wrong "your", "your", "their" so need to keep an eye out. Not a huge faux pas though, if it slips through the net.

agree - its one of the benefits of it all.

looking around Portsmouth as it means I can use it as an excuse to stay at a friends house and catch up with them at the same time.

Google has definitely improved a lot over the years, but I now use DeepL which I think is better.

Grazie, I'll blame the English computer and that I don't know the keyboard shortcuts for accents. A convenient excuse for not knowing where to put the accents. I've never been taught Italian formally, a bit late to start now perhaps.

I’ve just completed Cytech 2 at Stafford, 70 miles commute each way for ten days as I’d rather sleep in my own bed. That was the nearest provider as I’m currently based in Lancashire.

The course itself was excellent as were the fellow students. Highly recommended

Most guys were reskilling for a new trade, albeit not that well paid but quality of life and hours are recommended.

My motivation was to spanner into semi retirement, large insulated shed in the garden, all my tools, bench, lighting, bean to cup coffee machine and wood burning stove....a few years off yet but that’s the plan!

F' me I hate foreign languages. This is an English forum and I would ban the use of other languages here if I had my way (which I dont). This is so that we can all follow what is being said rather than anything racial.
Whats with the half English half other languages used here? Wouldn't it be better to stick to the one language rather than this back and fo translation stuff?

Would have been interested in some of the answers to the question of the thread.

Pretty sure all of the relevant bits were in English, at least they weren't in Italian.

I can just about follow the written Italian, but struggle with conversation in real time.

I can just about follow the German, having done it at GCSE, even though if you asked me to actually say something, i could ask you the way to the train station....

Having said that, work are paying for me to start a German language course in September.
