Neck Pain While Cycling

I have bought my first road bike in nearly 45 years. It took 9 months to arrive and I had visions of long hard rides. Got the bike fit, but the neck pain I feel is almost immediate and I can't ride more than 45 mins. Started PT last week. I welcome any suggestions and is there hope?

Relaxation of neck' shoulders, arms and hands.
don't go stiff and grip, riding is like playing a piano - reeeeelax, loose grip, nice and loose eveywhere save for core to hold you straight.
being tense will waste energy, make it uncomfortable.
its like making love to a beautiful woman/man/sheep/whatever.The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

Are you wearing a helmet with a peak? these come standard with many helmets, but clip off easily.
When I swiched to a road bike I had neck stiffness becaue I had to arch my neck to see ahead properly.
