Morning All. Nice start sat outside having breakfast prior to OH taxi service. Last day off so out on bike and some builder prep work possibly. Good luck WS.

Bike ride and loafing is the order of the day.
Got to get a man out to see to the burglar alarm. Went off last night due to power disruption, but would not reset. Had to remove the fuse and disconnect battery backup. Bet neighbours were happy. Shrug.
Got to chase up the oncology department to sort out admin error. I got a form for some blood tests through. Right blood tests, wrong patient's details on the form. I assume someone else has received a form for their tests but with my name on it. My test is routine but theirs could be more serious. Besides, we could both do without incorrect medical histories.
    Admin bods eh?

BM sounds like you've got a busy day sorting 💩 out. Sounds like your burglar alarm battery is on it's way out. Usual culprit.

Tricky brought home a nice strand of some sort of lurgy on Friday which I thought I had avoided. Add Covid jab '2 and i'm coughing like a bstrd with sore throat and no paraffin to gargle.

GP's prescription online ordering service failed. Got to Chemist and they hadn't received anything...
'It's the company who runs the software'.

    ...and it's raining.

    Herendeth mid week whinge.

    Any news Spinner?

@ballysmate just bribe the neighbours with alcohol and they'll be fine about it.
@pinno you'll probably find the problem is that someone somewhere hasn't clicked "ok" Our GP's digital prescription thing isn't very good either.

Yes. Call from specialist this morning to confirm the diagnosis of a brain/spinal tumour from MRI.

Surgeon is “cautiously positive” he knows what it is, and hopeful for outcome given he has zero symptoms they’d normally expect.

    Booked for next Wednesday.

And there's me thinking waking up to stomach cramps after swallowing some lake water was bad, that's paled into insignificance.

Best of luck to you both WS.

Sunny day here, will be out on the bike after work followed by a shortish run in the morning.

    Morning folks,
wfh today so a little more relaxed than yesterday, still dealing with too many idiots. Lad should be turning up at some point having sorted himself a room down south, somewhere in Portsmouth as a compromise apparently. No doubt I will end up helping move stuff at some point. Not much else going on, looks nice out so might try and get some air at lunchtime.

Clinging on to this bit for you Spinner, wishing you both all the best. I suspect it will be a very long week for you.

[email protected]#k Wheelspinner. That's censored , although, as others have said, the specialist being cautiously positive is a good sign.

    Thoughts with you both.

Oh 'spinner - that's terrible - hang on to the "cautiously positive". I know it seems trite from someone on a silly corner of a bike forum, but thinking of you & your partner and hoping for the best.

Why are insurance companies such hard work?
Is my car still insured with you - why can't they give me a yes/no

SG's thread title sent me off to google again, as it often does. Keats, it would seem. Poetry is something I feel I should like more than I do, and I can appreciate how it showcases language to express all aspects of the human condition. But I never read it.

Further on in the passage that sg quotes is rather lovely.

"But there are richer entanglements, enthralments far more self-destroying, leading, by degrees, to the chief intensity: the crown of these is made of love and friendship, and sits high upon the forehead of humanity."

Beautiful day outside, shame I'm inside looking out at it.

    An ACME pick axe handle?
Don't - you end up on the receiving end of them - i've seen it.
And don't get one of those road stop thingies and don't try the dynamite pills and don't saw off the end of a cliff and don't buy the ACME rocket sledge kit.

Don't run into a tunnel entrance that you have painted onto a mountainside either, roadrunner can run through it, you can't and will get a big comedy bump on your head.

Everything crossed WS. “Cautiously positive” is the thing to grab on to, as I’m sure you have. Oncologists tend to be neutral at best so this is a good thing to hear. Hope you’re both coping (stupid thing to say - it’s the sentiment that’s intended!)

Of more modern USAnian cartoons the kids used to watch, so not that modern, Phineas & Ferb was cool. They even had a pet platypus that lived a double life as a secret agent and had his own theme tune.

Thank you Internet Forum People! Your wishes are very much appreciated.

Am swinging between “quite unnerved” and “f^cking terrified” at the moment. Picked a lousy time to quit drinking too. But we’re going out to a loooooong lunch tomorrow with old and dear friends which will help immensely.
