Will he chase green and finish? There's only a 10 day turnaround (not sure what the rules will be on athletes quarantining).

There's a few stages in the first week he'll fancy, then maybe the one to Quillan. He'll win at least one, surely.

After the ASO went to so much trouble to design a route that put Alaphilippe into yellow on day 1 and keep him in it for most of the race, too. B)

Is carapaz going to the tour?

That's the plan. With only three Grand Tour winners, two World Champions and the most successful one week rider of the last decade, they're looking a bit threadbare.

No love for Geraint's 3 rainbow jerseys or Olympic medals?

MvdP attacks over the last climb and it's race on!

Alaphilippe and Carapaz with him plus a handful of others

Alaphilippe clear on his own, so Ineos put Dunbar, Dennis and Sivakov to the front of the peloton.

    That didn't take long.

Well that was a fun last 30km. MvdP takes the win with a long sprint from a reduced bunch

    He's very, very good.

DQS rider must be so happy he put in that huge turn to pull the Movistar rider back only for MvdP to trounce him in the sprint. Wasted energy on that early move.

Alaphilippe became a mobile chicane again.

MvdP gets the overall because Alaphilippe didn't get second place, right?

Yep. Alaphilippe didn't get second so he's second in gc by a second.

If he wants to win he needs to be more selective about which riders he cuts up.

Just a shame that no-one, not even Hatch, mentioned the person who came second, Laporte.

Judging from yesterday, it's going to be a crazy downhill finish today.

As Blazing said in the other thread Hatch did mention him. I missed it at first and just checked it back. It took until the second replay but he then listed the first 5 places. Prior to that he was trying to work out the implications for the yellow jersey so was concentrating on MvdP and JA whilst speculating whether MvdP had got a gap (I still think he did but the official results obviously disagreed). I did find it surprising he needed a replay to check if JA had come second or third as it was clear he was third even on my laptop screen in realtime.

Intermarche-Wanty-Gobert pull whole team out after positive covid test for staff member. Don't want to gave any risk of contaminating the race bubble.

If it wasn't for the Giro it would have felt like they'd pulled their team out of the whole season so far!

So which race is likely to be best to watch today - Switzerland, Belgium or Slovenia?
