Yates fractions of a second quicker to finish between Carthy and Bernal.

Dan Bigham. Rides for Ribble but is also a scientist and specialist in aerodynamics.

Was he the driving force behind the huub team that seemingly changed team pursuing?
Yes. He's also working with the Danish track team for the Olympics. Interview with him in latest Cycling Podcast Service Course
    He’s a kit guy, right?
Not really, more anything that improves performance (he was commenting on the riders who sprint the last 150m rather than staying in their position). He's all about aerodynamics and efficiency and kit is only a part of that.

Gotta say. Not my kind of pundit, but I imagine lots of Brits will be loving it

    Bernal poor.
    Almeida new fastest quickie.

Yates pretty similar time. Don't think it's that bad tbh

Desperate Dan seems to have disappeared off the director's radar altogether.

Looked like a shocker. Doesn’t bode well.

I think it's appropriate for a TT stage.

Ganna fastest at the intermediate by nearly 2 seconds, Remco about 4 seconds slower.

Not convinced Ganna has this, 2 minutes to do 2k. Remco 9:06 in the end.

Bardet still looking like an amateur riding a TT bike. He could probably get lower on the drops. Thought he had a saddle pack at first too.

Landa ships about 20" to the other GC contenders.

Found Dan Martin 18-19 seconds behind that clutch of GC boys including Yates and Bernal.
Landa only 8 seconds better than Martin.

Yeah worked well today, probably wouldn't on the other stages... but what else is there to talk about on a TT stage

Bardet around the same as Martin / Landa. So frustrating to see he still doesn't seem to be working on rectifying his TT. He seemed to be putting out a decent amount of power but is wasting it due to his terrible position

Vlasov seems to be the best placed GC contender other than Remco.

Yep. On road stages there is local sights and cuisine to break things up but with several hours around a short loop there's not much to discuss and it is relevant.

    Wiki history

The city used to be a major European political centre. From 1563, it was the capital of the Duchy of Savoy, then of the Kingdom of Sardinia ruled by the House of Savoy, and the first capital of the Kingdom of Italy from 1861 to 1865. Turin is sometimes called "the cradle of Italian liberty" for having been the birthplace and home of notable individuals who contributed to the Risorgimento, such as Cavour. Even though much of its political significance and importance had been lost by World War II, Turin became a major European crossroad for industry, commerce and trade, and is part of the famous "industrial triangle" along with Milan and Genoa. Turin is ranked third in Italy, after Milan and Rome, for economic strength.

    Food

The local Piedmontese cuisine is some of the most varied and celebrated in Italy. Piedmont is the region where the Slow Food movement was born, just a few kilometres away in Bra, with many eateries inspired by the Slow Food concept focusing on local, fresh, top quality produce. Salone del Gusto e Terra Madre, a biennial international food fair and convention, is hosted in Turin in the autumn to highlight the importance of producing locally, eating healthily and savouring socially.
