Check the stage thread. Red for the start, white for the finish.bobmcstuff said:Anyone else get the Cycling Podcast Giro d'Italia wine box?
Just trying to work out which wine relates to which stage now 😆
The box has 6 different wines in it, but I'm going to have to listen through the podcast to see which relates to which stage...
This is what was in the box:
Got some friends coming round later and we are going to go through them anyway.
Today is the furthest south, so the San Marzano Negroamaro Il Pumo from a lot further south than today's start in Puglia has to be the one.
Then the Abruzzo white for tomorrow or Monday (if you haven't already), Tuscan red for the Siena day. The Prosecco is from Veneto, not far from Monte Grappa, so the Zoncolan day start is closest. Then the Trentino Alto Adige is closest to the Sega Di Ala day. Turin is in Piedmont, so that's for the last day.

From what I can make out on there, the first two are for Verona and a Dolomite/Trentino stage.
The third wine you should have drunk during the week for the Abruzzo or Le Marche stages.
I think number 4 is best suited for Monday's stage. Number 5 is Wednesday's stage.
Number 6 seems to be your wine for today, as I think it's a Apulia Negroamaro?
It's production area includes a small part of the province of Foggia, which was today's start town."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.1 -
Get yersen doqn t'Viccy wines for a nice bottl or 5 of Montepulciano.
Gents, you be heading to the capital of wild boar sausages, vino rosso fatto a casa and the smell of wood smoke wafting across stunning empty silent vallies..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

Maybe this will be higher resolution:
In any case there is an accompanying podcast with Friebe and the guy from the wine company, which I am sure will explain it too 😉0 -
Pecorino Abbruzzese e per domani..

Has to be the Apulia red today anyway

Cataldi Madonna is smack in between Chieti, L'Aquila and Campo Felice, making it a very versatile wine!MattFalle said:Pecorino Abbruzzese e per domani.

Agree compleyely - Pecorino is really nice - if we have to buy wine when we go home its up there.

First half of the race has been pretty bad for me, I need a new strategy for picking winners.
I'm thinking I may go with random guessing as it can't be any worse than my efforts thus far.....0 -
Random guessing hasn't worked out for me. Have a rethink.singleton said:First half of the race has been pretty bad for me, I need a new strategy for picking winners.

Crashes warrant discussion.
Doesn't mean that is what we want to see.The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

The Taco stage had Bora executing their plan to very, very, near perfection. Loved it.0

The next week has gravel, Tuscan scenery, Zoncolan and Dolomites. What's not to love with this race?2

Just going to put the thread and a little strade supplement up, as I think we have waited long enough.kingstongraham said:The next week has gravel, Tuscan scenery, Zoncolan and Dolomites. What's not to love with this race?

Merlier abandons citing fatigue, apparently0

And I picked him for yesterdays stage... sigh.bobmcstuff said:Merlier abandons citing fatigue, apparently

This morning I heard he would be a DNS tomorrow because of stomach-intestinal problems – and they can be very fatiguing.bobmcstuff said:Merlier abandons citing fatigue, apparently

They said on commentary a few days back that he'd had a Dumoulin moment.jimmyjams said:

Looking ahead to the forthcoming big mountain stages and it's pretty definite that the weather hasn't finished effecting this Giro. Rain is forecast for pretty much the whole of tomorrow's Zoncolan stage and a wet weather warning is already in place for Cortina and Monday's Queen stage. Heaven knows what the 2000 metre passes will be like.

How did DiMarchi crash? Didn't spot it on video but sounds nasty0
-
Fortunately it wasn't caught on camera, so we weren't subjected to multiple reruns of the incident. Not seen anyone with an explanation of it either. No info from ISN other than the list of broken bones. At least he seems to be in good cheervincesummerskRoxcBTr said:How did DiMarchi crash? Didn't spot it on video but sounds nasty

There was an update on the giro website at the time it happened that Demarchi and Dekker had been involved in a crash, but nothing more than that.0
-
Goosens was involved in the crash too and abandoned yesterday. The camera showed him with mud on his arse but he didn't look injured
