Sticky freewheel

So was oiling the chain before a ride by peddling backwards by hand, only for some reason the cassette, free hub etc wouldn't move backwards. The chain would go slack and sag, and I could feel a lot of tension (almost springy). Then suddenly the system jumps and it spins backwards no problem. Any ideas, what the issue could be? Is it the free hub ?
Sorry this is kinda hard to explain, I have a video but I can't upload here on this!

Your rear mech sticking. Try pushing it forward and see if it springs back.0

Evening. Freehub needs cleaning. Spent several hours this pm trying to do such and finding the particular hub on this bike seems to not allow the freewheel unit to come off for basic cleaning, which is annoying.
Check out videos on YouTube for how to sort out the issue. GCN, Park Tool etc.0 -

take wheel and cassette off
undo free wheel -
its generally a 5mm allen key in each side.
undo freewheel
clean with degreaser and gt85, allow to drip dry, use light oil (I use 3:1) to lubricate
reassemble
job jobbed
.The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.
