New Bike Build (never done before!)

  • Many bikes come with lots of packaging. The handlebars should be twisted and the wheels taken out. First, remove all packaging, strings, cable ties, and polystyrene. This is easiest if you place the bike frame on a stand that can be used to cut out all packaging. You can prop the bike against a wall if you don't own a stand.

Remember that your bike may be too small and you might need to return it. You should carefully remove the packaging to get a better idea of how it was packed. If it is necessary to return it, you can place it back in the original box.

Fratello build is coming along nicely (if somewhat slowly).

Everything is now on apart from the chain and bar tape.

Next thing is to sort chain, shifting and braking, but I'm pretty pleased with it.

Glad I followed others advice, not nearly as hard as I'd expected and properly enjoying it!

one of this is actually very difficult at all - occasionally tricky but not difficult.

anyone who tells you differently is lying.

its a bicycle, not a space shuttle.

Looks good - apart from maybe being a bit over-generous with the length of cable for the brakes/gears around the handlebar area. Once the bar tape is on it should sort out the majority of the "messiness".

If you haven't already sized your chain the following link will help with working out the ideal length. Have used it for many years and it works every time.

  • Finally finished this a couple of weeks ago, and it's bloody great. Was a bit useless and ran out of patience to sort the indexing out so LBS sorted that.

Been out a few times on it and well chuffed, the campag groupset is bang on, frame is extremely comfortable and the SQ labs saddle is a revelation.
