Just been into the knee thread and was reminded of a true story involving a couple of friends and a knee problem. If I wrote it in that thread nobody would believe it. A friend was suffering flu like symptoms for some time and had been to the quacks a few times to no avail. Then his knee mysteriously swelled up. He was telling the illustrious doc about this strange development and the doc responded with more questions and told him to go straight to A&E saying he had something with a big name. The doc, a department head and specialist in tropical medicine, had done a House job, rang ahead and told them what to do. Mate had emergency surgery and was touch and go for a while. Had further surgery before they got rid of it. Apparently some rare and nasty bug that normally affects the heart and kills you dead had for some reason attacked his knee. Had he not followed the advice of going to the doctor it probably would have killed him. Would definitely sound a bit over dramatic in the context of that thread 😂
