2012 Giro started in Herning Denmark and also hosted a road stage.
Michael Valgren being the Danish connection as he was second to Gaspa in Amstel.

My other stab would be 1999 for the Angliru.
I remember Heras winning by a country mile in 2000 and I think they had it in back to back editions when it premiered.

    Right, that's me done.

Yep, spot on; to all of the above.

Giro '66 Monaco? thought about that but decided it might be too French. There's been one start in Belgium too but not sure where.

    Monaco - correct.
Like Vatican city, Monaco is not France (and therein lies a clue).

    Andorra?

I think the most wins in a single Classic in Merckx at MSR (6 or 7) assuming we're talking about genuine Classics.

On the Kelly question are you asking the total wins in Classics or how many of the Classics he has won in?

    pinno Posts: 52,275
    Andorra, no.

    Kelly: the latter.

According to Wiki, it's 7 but they don't list all the classics for some inexplicable reason.

Catching up with this thread and reading the clue: San Marino?

One recent one that sticks in my mind because of a trip to it's velodrome, when the niece was decked out in the rainbow jersey, is Apeldoorn in NL.
The actual Grande Partenza was inside said velodrome.

I see you have asked who won that first ascent of Angry Lou. Think that was Marco's mate Jose Maria Jimenez.

Does that make blazing saddles the only one on BR to have any actual street cred. (by proxy)?

My mother's long term friend and work colleague's grand daughter is married to Chris Froome's brother, Jeremy.

It's annoying me now that I know the 1996 Giro start but can't say as I looked it up.

Was there definitely not a Belgian start (possibly the 1973 one)?
