Help with BB Bearing housing width - New Bike
Hi everyone,
So I received my frame:
Felt AR FRD 2020
https://eu.feltbicycles.com/products/frame-ar-frd-aero-road-frame
Sadly they are not being responsive to my question. Would be great if someone can help me sourcing the right BB
I've found 3 closest match. The frame is BB30 but I'm not sure about the sizing
DUB BB30 Road Wide Bottom Bracket
68mm or 73mm ?
https://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/sram-dub-bb30-road-wide-bottom-bracket-976687
OR
https://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/sram-dub-bb30-73-a-bottom-bracket-804530
I can't see any difference between the two link. Maybe Axle diameter?
Which of these 3 bottom bracket would fit the bike?
I'll have Sram Red e tap 22 crank.
Thank you so much

the answer is that it depends on the Axle width and diameter, the crank you listed comes as bb30 or GXP. you need to buy a GXP compatible or a bb30 Bottom bracket.
The GXP variant 24/22mm is available for your bb30 frame from a number of manufacturers and avoids the need to use delrin top caps or similar make it fit compromises. Wheelsmfg is my go to brand, very easy to install and they work very well. Other brands are available. these systems go some way to totally eliminating BB30 creak.
https://wheelsmfg.com/bottom-brackets/bb30-outboard/bb30-to-outboard-bottom-bracket-for-24-22mm-cranks-sram-w-angular-contact-bearings-black.html
if youve got a BB30 frame (where bearings are pressed directly into the frame and stopped by c clips that sit in a groove) and a BB30 crank, then use the BB30 BB. When you install ensure the BB is degreased and cleaned thoroughly, I use bearing retaining compound (check the compatability if yours has a full carbon BBshell.)

David,
Thank you so much for taking time to write to me. This is exactly what I needed. The crank is SRAM RED 22 which is compatible with only Sram GXP and my frame is BB30 68mm shell 24mm diameter.
I was going to buy Praxis Works SRAM GXP BB Converters
OR
WHEELS MANUFACTURING
BB30 TO SRAM ADAPTER
Thanks for saving me over here.
Lastly , since I'm in UK I found 2 models. One is :
BB30 OUTBOARD ANGULAR CONTACT
and the other one
BB30 OUTBOARD ABEC-3 (£30 cheaper)
Do I have to go for Angular+Contact or the other one would fit to? Out of curiosity, what's the difference between the two?
Thanks again David.

either of the two bbs you listed are great, the angular is a bit of a pimp but practically you won't notice much if any difference.
Sigma sport are great.

I Fitted a wheels manufacturing bb with angular contact bearing to my 386 Evo, I came across this page that says you should use a wave washer with angular contact bearing though wheels make no mention of it https://www.kineticbikebearings.com/kbb9020-bb-wave-washer-24mm-pack-qty-10.html0
