Huge break going up the road - 28 riders, but no one of any danger to GC (Samitier is closest, 20 minutes down)

Plenty of helpers in case of attacks later tho. 2 each from Astana, Bora, Bahrain and Ineos

Teams have got to put Quickstep and Sunweb under pressure. Quite a big gap between Almeida and Kelderman that won't be easy to pull back.

    A GC cafe run today.
Must mean it is going to light up tomorrow! 🤞

Could still be some action on the finish wall

Could be, but I doubt it is worth any potential gains.
    A sprint for pride maybe.

Chasing group seemingly happy to mainly sit there and let Tratnik ride away to victory (I accept that they will be knackered but that won't stop them fighting for second instead).

More like it, Swift and O'Connor have attacked and dumped Tratnik's team mate in the process. Lead dropping fast.

Swift losing touch now, O'Connor is flying.

O'Connor bridges. Swift still in third but getting chased by Battaglin and one other. Probably too far back to close to the leaders.

Tratnik and O'Connor with a 46" lead over Swift, Battaglin and CCC rider.
  • Leading duo will surely contest the stage win as the chasing trio (Battaglin / Swift / Malecki) are about 50 seconds behind.

I think Tratnik will take it, but it would be a huge win for NTT if O'Connor does.

Who has the legs for the final ramp?
    That'll decide it.

Let's see if O'Connor can attack on the climb

  • Tratnik close to his homeland for this win.
Doesn't look as if any GC rider is going to lose time.

Do I need to switch over to the Vuelta? Is anything likely to happen here?

Looks like Almeida gapped everyone in the GC group by 2 seconds, so his lead is now 17 seconds (I think).

I wonder if he will pay for those sorts of efforts.

Almeida cracked Kelderman there on a finish that normally suits Wilco.
Wins a small psychological victory too.
I am sure it won't have been missed by the likes of the Nibbler.

Does a short climb that make much difference?

Before Yates I would have said no, but after his collapse I'm now considering it a possibility.

It's a big effort after 2 weeks of racing
