To bring in a new audience today's stage was combined with the Tony Awards

Today's stage saw a large group of over twenty riders get away early on in the stage, none of whom were a threat on GC. On the final lap attacks came fast and furiously as riders tried to steal away for the win with the lead group being whittled down to just seven survivors, of whom Evita Music had the best legs in the final km.

Maglia Rosa van der Breggen came in safely 3 minutes and 36 seconds down to secure her title, four seconds ahead of Niewiadoma. Longo Borghini rounds out the podium.

Marianne Vos takes the points jersey, Uttrup Ludwig the QOM spots.

    Hup Anna!

One of the less celebrated but definitely successful Dutchies...

  • Thanks to @davidof for the intros and summaries, btw - it's been fun to follow this race despite the sad ending for van Vleuten, who'd looked absolutely dominant up until her accident.

Lizzie Banks' audio diary on The Cycling Podcast is worth a listen. Adds some context to what we saw on the tellybox.

Not sure where to put this, but remember Evie Richards? The girl from The Malverns who rocked up the the U23 Cyclocross in Zolder and just rode away from everyone?

Well the XC World Champs have restarted in Nove Mesto and she just did the same at the short track, leading out the last lap, lead out and beating some girl called Pauline Ferrand Prevot in the sprint...
