Just about to do a 20 min FTP test. I have a good idea of what to expect, but what cadence of I aiming for the 20 minute duration? I was thinking around 70-80 mark and then adjust gearing accordingly ?

How about using the cadence you would normally use?left the forum March 20230

Don't worry about it, go with what is comfortable for the power you're outputting.0

Thanks!
So just finished it and looking back at it, probably could've pushed more for sure and maybe in hind sight the cadence was on the higher side ive what im used to (around 85rpm) so will have another go next week to see if I can dial it in.
At least having now done a test, I know where I stand!0 -
I always try and do about 5RPM more than I usually ride at (so around 90). Helps me mentally if I feel on top of the gear - I find my numbers start to drift about halfway through the test and focusing on turning a slightly faster gear helps me get a little more smoothness. Did you do the full protocol (eg warmup, openers, 5 minutes all out and the 20 minute test), or just 20 minutes?jamescrampton17 said:Just about to do a 20 min FTP test. Fat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.
