Rowers have the 2k, Runners have the 5k. What would a road cyclist do as a way of a standard that's comparable? VO2 max for example? Looking for a goal to aim for
10 mile TT is a good benchmark... it's similar to an FTP test in duration (slightly longer), but more meaningful than furiously pedalling like an imbecile on a turbo trainer

But they are all different. Runners 5k could just as easy be 100m or a marathon, or ultra.
